1. 3bet preflop
2. Otherwise - donk bet flop - bet turn - check/decide river

I felt like have the Ace of clubs was reducing combinations of flushes obviously but lent more towards two pairs hitting much more on the river, KQ, KJ etc and with the pot bet and such a wet board I didn't feel like I was going to win 1 in 3 times

Your question:
"Do I beat anything on the river?"
Yes. You beat :Jx: and :8x:

I agree w/ Berezovaya -- by 3Betting pre you get more information about his hand, and you narrow is range somewhat. You may even take the pot down at this point.

If you had 3Bet pre, you now get to CBet top pair OTF -- which shows more strength than donking, I think.
I don't like to check/raise with only top pair.

Since you play the hand passively throughout, villain can just keep pounding you, especially since you just flatted the made flush OTT, which is a perfect spot for a check/raise bluff since you hold the A♣: -- if he re-shoves, you can fold.

As played, i agree with nitrol -- you don't have enough equity to call.

speaking of equity, do you have Equilab?
It would be interesting to see what your equity really is vs his perceived range.

Another thought just occurred to me:
If he also has AQo, he plays it perfectly.

Cheers,
VS
