Quite badly botched hand here :f_drink:

Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Omaha Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $58.21 (232.8 bb)
BB: $23.57 (94.3 bb)
UTG: $15.49 (62 bb) (VPIP-16, PFR-12 3b-0, 51 hands)
MP: $107.31 (429.2 bb) (VPIP-24, PFR-8, 3B-7,7, 74 hands)
CO: $26.58 (106.3 bb)
Hero (BTN): $29.01 (116 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 3 A 9 A
UTG raises to $0.50, MP calls $0.50, CO folds, Hero raises to $2.35, 2 folds, UTG calls $1.85, MP calls $1.85

Flop: ($7.40) 5 2 T (3 players)
UTG checks, MP checks, Hero bets $4.50, UTG folds, MP calls $4.50

Turn: ($16.40) J (2 players)
MP checks, Hero checks

River: ($16.40) 2 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $5.90, MP raises to $30.75, Hero?

Prelop: Not very best aces here, but in position and and against shorty I make SPR~1,5 scenario if it goes 3-way, so I elected to squeeze. Maybe this hand is bit too weak now that I look it.

Flop: Hit overpair +gut-shot, flushdraw+one pair type of hands mostly in villains ranges if getting re-raised I think so bet-stacking off. I think I should bet bigger therefore, so that I can push turn if needed.

Turn: Shorty folds and big stack calls, SPR is now awkward 1,3. I thought this card hits his flop calling range hard and got scared, but I now think I just shove here because he could make in-correct fold with right equity to call :f_mad:

River: One of the only cards I really want to see, doesn't hit his range and counterfeits his 2 pairs hands, draws miss. I thin value-bet and villain shoves. Villain doesn't rep much, slowplayed TT, JJ+FD, some weird 2xxx hand? My bet-sizing could also induce bluff, but it takes certain type of villain to go for it.

I had marked villain as aggro before this hand, but his stats don't really support this and no notes.

Yes one of these spots where villain isn't repping much but still cant bring yourself to call the raise :/ would consider flopped set getting checked back on the turn unlikely, so it is either like a huge overplay on his part, succesfully bluffing someone of a strong hand or a weird 2x hand. But indeed one of these spot where you ask yourself what hand that raises here can I still beat when I call. Mmm diff spot, but still I would actually think it is a strong hand here, if I had to guess I would say he flopped (dry) bottom two here with maybe a straightdraw, and didnt like any overcards wasn't so sure of where he was until he hit the boat it was all good again. and throws out a big raise (that is very unlikely to get called by worse I may add).

This is a disgusting spot. Nice post though.

So you're bet on the river is thin and may give away exactly what you have. I cannot imagine you do this with AJxx or JTxx (but you never know) I think the turn is a mistake.

MP's action was flat (min raise), flat pot raise pre. Very unlikely he has a strong run down or ds KK, QQ etc. TJ has potential, TT, JJ also. I think JJ is more likely purely because the fact thers a short stacked player in the game and therfore the call may be tighter but he gets great odds to call with TT here.

The flop is fine. It is a dry board that doesn't connect very well with MP calling range I feel. I think UTG being in the hand widens his range on the flop but not hugely. He would likely get rid of hand with 25 - T5 - T2.

Turn (you have $15) - I shove or check. You block AsXs draws but they're still out there. You have potential straight draw if you are against a set (the flat on the flop is good from villain if so as at my player pool thats an instant raise and fold haha)

River - I think shove or check again. The two doesn't affect his range from the turn, value is thin but this spot is then really good for villain to bluff. The issue is I think villains range is capped to house or nothing and most don't check river with house unless they only believe you three bet AA and continue on that board like you did. I think getting 2.8:1 I would call here considering what has missed when you think of the potentiall hands he has from preflop having called UTG min raise. Spades, QK, any wrap from the turn. I call.

The issue with saying this is what hands is he calling pot bet from BTN with that have combos of 52 in considering he is a reasonably tight player. He has Ace blockers so its not like he can have A2345 combos very often. Awkward has hell when you considering his pot bet calling, the only issue being this is omaha and equity runs so close haha, if this was hold'em you could get a reasonable answer within 2 minutes.

But yes a difficult spot this is haha.

Problem here is that you start to think about possible call AFTER your opponent has raised your riverbet. You need to think that BEFORE you make the riverbet, especially with that sizing.

River is really thin. I like it versus a total fish who will pay you off with KJxx or JTxx or something but I think just checking back here is fine.

Who says that? I did know what I was going to do, but I don't know whether this was a good play or bad play in general (do people, even aggro's, bluff here against aces /or is anyone capable of going for check-raise for value with so low SPR?). That's the reason I didn't tell what the decision was, to see what other "omahaholics" here think :f_drink:

Also there is more in this hand than the river decision, I think the biggest mistake was turn check-back. There I was actually lost what to do :f_eek:

Ok, so the question wasn't what to do when opponent raises but the question was how to play the river? My bad.

Why did you choose that betsizing?

I thought that was the only reasonable bet-sizing, but not really sure about this. I thought he might be induced to hero call with worse or bluff with worse with this sizing. The bet looks weak, but not sure how often anyone really bluff against it, they might think with JT that they've blockers to FH and bluff with it?

Usually betting such rivers with aces because I'm also buffing with missed draws if ppl think I've aces when I really don't, to get weakish holdings to fold, but in this hand I think I would've bet draws on the turn so not relevant here.

Well on the turn you tell him that you don't have a full house (at least a big one) and then on the river you use small betsizing to induce bluffs. He raises, so with that information why don't just snap call him?

Because of the turn check I would either check back the river or bet-call as your range is quite capped.
