Hello guys, I played 2 hands on Pokerstars that I would like to discuss with you.

My question is regarding the Free Card topic. In both hands I lost to a pair of Jacks that hit a Jack in the river. So, my question is if I should have bet the turn in order to deny the free card to my opponent, or I was correct controling the pot size. Here are the 2 hands:

PokerStars - $0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

SB: 182 BB (VPIP: 29.63, PFR: 24.07, 3Bet Preflop: 15.38, Hands: 57)

Turn: (42.4 BB, 2 players) A♠

checking is ok, though you can argue a bet for other reasons. you can't always be paranoid that a 5% hand will hit the river

as played i would definitely fold the KK, besides random Ax he can have 98 JT and unlikely KQ improve and you hold a club (less likely he has busted FD)
second hand is whatever i guess

I agree that checking the turn is fine in both hands, but I would be more inclined to bet in hand #1 because we might need to protect against draws. When we check, I don't mind check/calling the river, but not sure if it will be profitable. In the hand #2 we might also bet the turn, but I like the way you've played it.

I don't like the calling pre in hand#2. Fold or bluff there.

can we valuebet the turn on table 1?

pro's - he should have more pairs than Ax after calling the flop so there are definitely worse hands and we still charge his draws
con's - he does still have Ax club hands and Ax floats, also we stop him from betting his floats OTT

The A is a valid betting card. But we can fold some non ace hands that we beat.

First hand: Looks OK up to turn where I´m folding. Too many broadways and Ax beat us

2nd hand: x/b T is OK I think. I expect to have one street of value and we can take it on the river (and enable to opponent to try to bluff)

I believe we cannot fold vs this sizing. Unfortunately we probably cannot assigned him a range because people do this with anything from AA to some random nonsense. Still we have nice odds. Also when we fold vs this sizing it´s like to say feel free to 3bet us all day long with great RRR.

Just we cannot start play crazy on Ahigh board.

If you are not comfortable folding, you can choose from the other option I gave - bluff.

Pretty annoying situation playing against some kind of retard (3 bet size)

Betting turn sucks, calling river sucks, maybe some kind of 30-35% of pot size bet might be good on the turn with intention of free shodown

Calling river brings atleast for me a little brainfuck cuz we beat not much and he looks like hit has hit something

Even if had not hit the river, we are still behind all Ax that he 3bets pre.
