The reason I wanted some advice on this hand, is because when I was playing it I felt a sudden rush through my body, it could be due to being inexperienced in 4bet pots,I suspected the player to be a maniac after watching his play for a few rounds.

I ment more towards the emotions :f_biggrin:, I played it this way because the play was a bit maniac with bets when checked to him, on the river I got really scared and was planning to fold to a reraise, I wanted somebody to help me with the emotion and give me some advice on what might have caused this sudden rush

I would of been better to check call the river and let him barrel his air 1 more time his range is super wide here, looking over it now I even blocked the :Ax::diamond:

If you x OTT, then x/r, you want to get value from him. As played OTR just x/c or even x/r vs small bet, but donking yourself it's bad play IMO, you just fold his all air hands, which he should have, because you have info that he is probably maniac and he will be betting Qx hands himself, so you don't lose value vs them by x river.

Yeah that makes sense on the river, and that was my plan to check call, but my emotions raised very high throughout this hand, i guess it blocked my thinking i had a rush through my body, i guess i forgot i was playing a maniac.

With this check raise on the turn, why do you guys think that would be better then X/C turn and X/C river vs this maniac style player can you explain in more detail please? What would the plan be on the river?

You pretty much nailed it - you were in an unfamiliar situation in a bloated pot, it's normal to feel anxiety.
It's like that with moving up, chatting up that stunning blonde that walks down the street for the first time or getting your 4bet flatted.
The way you deal with that is that you just keep playing more hands at the higher limit and analyze what you've done so you learn, keep chatting up sexy blondes and think about what you could do better next time and play through 4bet pots and do what you've done here and analyse them. And as long as you have self-awareness you'll eventually get comfortable playing these spots. A little tip is to have a notebook while you play, and write down your feelings in the hand down, and then review them afterwards. Think of it as creating your mental game database to analyze, and I still enjoy doing that from time to time. And I did it when chatting up stunning women too, it just helps you learn faster + force self-awareness if you're not a very self-reflective person.

I think in this hand with the small sample bet bet shoving is the best line, reason being that Qx really hits a lot of his 4bet calling range (AQ, KQs QJs...) and pocket pairs will be reluctant to fold to 2 bets as it's paired. And your sample on him is really small, human brain is a pattern creating machine, and even consistently perceives meaningful patterns within random data, all you seem to know s that he 3bet a lot and has somewhat aggressive stats over a really small sample.

As you play him more you should look at his tendencies, watch his hands and get more solid reads. If he really bets way too much when checked to (you've seen actual hands or get a meaningful sample) and is a maniac who attacks weakness I think checking the flop to call 3 streets + check shove most rivers if he's not all in will be the best option here as the Ad takes out nut flush draws + with the Ac there's literally no turn besides a Q that you mind that much, and the AA takes out half of his AQ combos. If he floats way too much then cbet+check call turn check river (shove or call depending on the card) will be the alternative.

LemOn36 got it bet bigger over all streets, I would 4b slightly bigger as we are oop. And if you bet small aren't you afraid that it will trigger him to raise? As you have the blocker for the nut fd it's really hard for him to raise the river with just a flush imo.

What lemon said was pretty much my problem, the emotions in this spot didn't really effect me until the river and I was like "OMG! the flush what do I do? the bet on the flop was an inducing bet I was hoping he was going to reraise, since a lot of maniacs raise a small bet, looking at this now a check raise or check shove on the turn is the best option I think he will still call with most hands and just shove the river, there isn't really a lot I could do if he has a flush, I I played it like that so I would of been less feared or check call the river but I think he just checks back, at the point with medium strength hands a TP so a shove is better.

Another thing to do in these spots, is, have a clear plan of what you are going to do from flop to river and what your going to do when certain card comes, so it doesn't shock you and provoke emotions, witch was fear in this case.

I've discovered that the problem here lies in emotional control, Ive been doing a lot of work recently on controlling emotions, my head is much clearer in these spots, im unfamiliar with now.
