Is this a reasonable spot for a squeeze?

Poker Stars $10.00 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players

MP1: $11.10 - VPIP: 15, PFR: 11, 3B: 6, AF: 1.5, Hands: 160
MP2: $4.85 - VPIP: 23, PFR: 3, 3B: 5, AF: 1.0, Hands: 39
CO: $4.25 - VPIP: 46, PFR: 11, 3B: 8, AF: 3.0, Hands: 35
BTN: $10.00 - VPIP: 20, PFR: 15, 3B: 8, AF: 3.0, Hands: 228
Hero (SB): $10.00 - VPIP: 18, PFR: 14, 3B: 7, AF: 2.9, Hands: 8845
BB: $10.74 - VPIP: 19, PFR: 15, 3B: 2, AF: 2.2, Hands: 180
UTG: $4.10 - VPIP: 18, PFR: 16, 3B: 13, AF: 0.0, Hands: 45
UTG+1: $10.00 - VPIP: 20, PFR: 18, 3B: 8, AF: 1.0, Hands: 55
UTG+2: $19.82 - VPIP: 34, PFR: 27, 3B: 13, AF: 4.0, Hands: 73

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is SB with T :spade: A :diamond:
UTG raises to $0.30, 3 folds, MP2 calls $0.30, 2 folds, Hero raises to $1.20, 1 fold, UTG raises to $4.10, 2 folds

Final Pot: $2.80
UTG wins $2.80
(Rake: $-0.00)

I'm just folding here, we're OOP vs. a short stack who's playing pretty tight and he's raising UTG in full ring, what are we getting to fold? Villain is gonna stack off quite often and ATo is not a great hand to be doing that with imo.

If utg wasn't a shortstack, it is a reasonable spot for a squeeze.

At first it is a shortstack, as everbody else mentioned, and he is tight. But the main point is, when you squeeze ATo then you squeeze way to wide. Because you don´t want to fold more than 50% of your squeezingrange. AA-QQ and AK are just 2,56% of your get it in Range. And if you squeeze ATo, You probably squeeze ATo+ and ATs+, but if UTG jams, you fold more than 50%, and even vs a reg in UTG it is not good to get it in with AK and QQ. So in this case, you exploit yourself by sqeezing and folding to much.

I also wouldn't bluff squeeze against a shortstack. Shorthaned, this would be a decent spot for a squeeze, but I believe that it should be different 9-handed.

Short stack or not, I normally avoid squeezing UTG in an FR game , I't just asking for trouble :)

That's an overplay, still ATo may be considered decent hand to squeeze, I'd say even basic

ATo is a normal squeeze hand.

I mean it is awsome to squeeze this hand in this spot. What do you want to achieve by squeezing?

As I understand it:

1. The point of a squeeze is that the open raiser finds it hard to 4-bet with another player to act behind him, which means he is forced to fold the weaker part of his opening range (which he might otherwise bluff 4-bet). We also don't expect a 4-bet from the cold-caller, because of his previous call (and in this particular example he looks a bit fishy in any case, which is the configuration we want).

2. We have to include bluff squeezes or we don't get paid enough when we squeeze for value. At least, that's the theory, probably at NL10 not too many villains will track our squeeze stat.

3. Ax hands are good for bluff squeezing because the fact we hold an A reduces the number of AA and AK combos the open raiser has, although the flip-side is that when we get called, we're dominated by the Ax hands in both villains' ranges.

4. The nature of a bluff is that we're hoping to fold both villains and steal the pot. We usually don't continue unless we happen to hit some two-pair, trips or straight. (Obviously if we isolate one villain and he has a decent FTCB we can continue to bluff on some flops.)

5. When we squeeze from the blinds, we use a depolarised range because we don't want to call many hands when we'll be OOP post-flop (probably just low PPs for set value and high suited aces). If this hand is in our squeeze range it's probably something like {ATo+, 88+}.

6. I think everybody agrees that this particular move was poor because UTG is short stacked so can be expected to shove comparatively wide, making the bluff poor value.

I agree that Ax hands are good for bluff squeezes, but we don't need to be depolarized with squeezes when on blinds. For example, when UTG opens and BTN calls, we can squeeze KK+ and half combos of AKs for value and something like 98s-54s as a bluff. The reason is the same as it is with 3betting. We want to get opportunity to be aggressive when someone calls our bluff and we hit draws and backdoor draws. Those hand have a great playabilty postflop. If we miss flop, it's easy to check/fold.

I feel I'm making my life easier if I save those sorts of moves for when I'm IP. Plus, it should be more confusing for the villains if I use different squeeze ranges in different positions.

I think being depolarised in this spot is fine, unless we have more info on villain, because we get so good odds on a call. But against 100bb opponents I think it's fine to use a polarised squeeze range.

In FR the UTG range is generally so tight that there is not much of a folding range, against a decent player I prefer not to have a 3 betting range, agaisnt a weaker player that's different, but generally it will be for value :)

@ Nitrols. Do you want this guy to fold or to call with ATo in the hand. That was the question? So depending on your answer, AT is not a normal squeezing hand.
