Hey team,

Villain has just joined the table and we've only got a few hands on him. This is Ipoker though and it seems like at NL2 the most common player is some sort of TAG.

I'm quickly discovering how suck it is to be OOP in this game. Is it pretty standard to c/c twice then give up with weak top & middle pairs without solid reads? It's a lot of bbs to call, I lean towards folding the turn here but I don't know what is best.

IPoker, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $1.41 (70.5 bb)
Hero (BB): $2 (100 bb)
UTG: $2.11 (105.5 bb)
MP: $0.17 (8.5 bb)
CO: $2.11 (105.5 bb)
BTN: $2.41 (120.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J 9
2 folds, CO raises to $0.06, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.04

Flop: ($0.13) J 4 Q (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $0.10, Hero calls $0.10

Turn: ($0.33) 6 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $0.26, Hero ???

First , I would 3 bet preflop with our hand.
Second, Villain's bets are big ones, mostly for value. NL2 player will not bet big his draws.
I aggree that you can fold the turn then.

I think you can call one street but you should fold on the turn. Villains bets are quite big.

"I'm quickly discovering how suck it is to be OOP in this game." hahaha :truestory:

I would just muck this without reads.
U are way behind vs his value range that is betting like that on the turn.

I like the call preflop. It's the very bottom of our range for calling vs CO, but I think it's definitely ok.

If this read mentioned by nitrol is correct, that villain's big bets are mostly for value, then we definitely have to fold.

But if villains is barreling his OESD, fd, AK, AT, then we kind of have to call. I wouldn't blame you too much for calling 2 streets in this spot. I myself would be tempted to call twice.

But the bet size might indeed be a tell, weighing his range more towards value.

And here's a quick equilation vs a range w/ draws included

Board: J♦4♣Q♦ 6♠
       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    51.75%  51.75%   0.00% { Jc9c }
MP3    48.25%  48.25%   0.00% { QQ+, 66, 44, AQs+, ATs, KTs-K9s, T9s, AQo+, ATo, KTo }

This is assuming he'll check back his Jx.

caltabiano, these are all reasonable draws. Great work.
But do u think villain would bet them all (and w this sizing)?

I welcome the idea of flatting pre J9s at nl2, huge implied odds, be ready for intensified betting tho, those guys are running hard also with fd.

I think these guys usually bet smaller when on draws.

Agree with Nitrol. Best BB defense here is a 3bet bluff. At this level, I would not even defend this spot.

It's really hard to know... I know I would be betting them all and I would even add a bunch of diamond draws, and the 75s, maybe the 76s as well for the gutshot.. But then again that doesn't mean villain would. And like I said, the sizing might be a tell indeed.

I, for my part, haven't really been able to get that general read that people bet bigger on his made hands and smaller on draws, so I wouldn't really mind the sizing. But if you guys are saying that, maybe it is. I'll actually start paying more attention :f_biggrin:

I hope the suited cards in this range are diamonds only.

Pretty simple, call if hit, fold if missed.

What do you want to hit?
Flushes and straights may not get enough calls OOP as will be obvious. TPs will be weak. ..

Do this, so you can confirm or refute. In any case, u ll be making an improvement just by trying to figure it out, paying attention to betting paterns _grin:

Watching for betsizing tells is a part of the process of collecting info on villain. See how he bets and see what he shows on showdown.

For the real beggining u can argue something like that. But them its good to implement some moves based on villains.

Yep, tps may not handle w 3 betting rounds posflop.

So, calling is not that good. I prefer 3 bet bluffing.

Make sense. But if villain is not that aggro posflop, I dont mind calling at all.
