Hi everyone

My opponent was a 27/19 reg, but he was pretty much unknown at the time of this hand (i could see he was a reg though)
I have more questions regarding this party
1. Is it ok to make 3bet with A7s from Btn?
2. Was the cbet good on the flop? I had one overcard, and a bdfd
3. The turn was pretty much good for me, because his range contains less flush then mine. So my plan was that i will also bet the river ( it would have been an AI)
4. The river brought another diamond to the board, so if he hasn't got an Adx he wil have a hard time calling it. In my range there could be more Adx then in his. If I made the 3bet with KK,TT,KT I would check the river. If I had a flush on the turn without the Ad I would check the river also. So without flush its impossible for him to call in my opinion. But maybe he will also fold a JJ or QQ with diamond

1. Will you 3B A7salways vs unknown? If yes, than it is ok.
2. You can cbet flop, but what will happen? What handsarefolding and what hands are calling?
3. Turn is good card for you, but it completes the flush and makes a BDSD...Not good to barrel.
4. Your bet here is pouring money into and endless well.... No need to bet here. And why do you think he has less AdX combos then you?

2. My thought was that if I check the flop I cannot make it to the river with A7s. Even if he has a KQ he has 28%. The range he has could be: ATs-AQs, AQ+, 66-QQ, KQ, KJs+, QJs, JTs, T9s. I think he would 4bet with AKs,KK,AA. So all in all the calling range is 8.3% and the 4bet range is 1.2%. I don't think he would call with a looser range.
So at the flop he would call with this range: QQ-JJ, 99-88, 66, AdKh, AdKs, AdKc, AhKd, AcKd, AdQh, AdQs, AdQc, AhQd, AcQd, KdQh, KdQs, KdQc, AdQd, KdQd, AdJd, KdJd, QdJd, AhTh, AcTc, JhTh, JsTs, JcTc, ThTs, ThTc, TsTc, Th9h, Ts9s, Tc9c, 7d7h, 7d7c, 7h7c. (This is 67% of his range so the cbet in my opinion was good)
3. On turn he would fold JTs,T9s and the pp-s.
He should continue with this range: QQ-JJ,AdKh,AdKs,AdKc,AdQh,AdQs,AdQc,AhQd,AcQd,AdQd,AdJd,QdJd,ThTs,ThTc,TsTc
4. And for the river he only has 8 combos with Adx: AQs,AJs,AdK,AdQ
But of course I don't really know that much about my opponent. So maybe he would never ever fold a flush here

2. Why do you want to get to the river with your hand? I hope you understand that you 3b preflop as a bluff...
4. Villain is calling you 2 streets for a reason. ..

2. I know but still if he folds more than 33% its profitable to make a cbet
4. But he doesn't know that much about me as well. So he cannot think that I will do this anything else but with Adx. Or can he?

2. Ok. But still it should not be a main purpose to see a river.
4. You are overestimating the villains here. He can think whatever he wants...as you can see from the showdown...

Ok sorry my mistake. My explanation wasnt that good. So what i wanted to tell that its still not be if he folds smth like a KQ or QJ.
Yeah i know but if we are looking like this we shouldn't ever make a bluff

I think you put villain on a too wide range. The flop cbet was ok but I don't like betting turn so much. He has overpairs with single diamond and could have AdXd. River bet is also not good

Villain doesn't have KQ or QJ in his range and if he has he should fold them OTF so your bet OTT is not good because of that. And what comes to your argument about that we shouldn't ever make a bluff: You bluff preflop and it is profitable. You must not turn your +EV preflop move into a -EV postflop move.

PS. Sorry nitrol I stole your line.

QJ diamonds and spades are not folding on flop or turn.

In NL10 they play very stupidly when they are facing with a 3bet OOP. As we can see from the result. So that is why i put KQ and QJs in his range

You should follow a simple rule: do not fall in love with a hand, do not right for every pot as you cannot win them all and do not turn a plus EV preflop move into a minus EV disaster postflop.

I dont intend to fall in love with some kind of hands and i also dont want to win every pot. Why would I do that? I was just curious what do you think about bluffing here and thats all. I mean calling with a 65s was much more -EV for him than for me. Of course not this time

In your case you did just that - bluff preflop and then blurred postflop which unfortunately lead to losing.

When you see that your villain is not playing with 100bb stack, you should assume that he is a bad player. You should not be bluffing vs bad players as they usually call too much and they are exploiting you (by calling if you are bluffing..) without even knowing it themselves.

You don't need to 3bet bluff vs bad players.

Here you contradict yourself. Either you assume they play very stupidly, which makes a point for playing very straightforward. A triple barrel bluff where you assume they will make a certain estimate of your range and fold on the basis of that is not part of playing straightforward against people who do random/stupid stuff. Just valuebet all day long.

The other option is you assume he is a very well thinking player, who in fact is able to give you a specific range and make logical plays. In this case he will likely put you on an extremely polarized range here (A diamonds or total bluff) if he doesnt have the Ad himself. Ofcourse he will always call with that. These opponents might however also bluffcatch with a part of their range as they know you're that polarized and they only need to be right ~30% for a profitable call.

Then again... this is 10NL you're imo giving way too much credit of what they might think of what.

Hero said that villain is semi unknown 27/19 reg. He is 0.3bb short, it might be some sort of auto top up failure or then he forgot to enable it this time or something. I agree that players who are playing short and don't have auto top up enabled are usually recreational but we can't assume he is a bad player just yet.

This is the "dark tunnel bluff", termed so by Dan Harrington after the typical theme in cheap (but entertaining) Hollywood productions where a creepy mass-murderer is on the loose, armed to the teeth with axes and chainsaws. It is then a great time for the hero to enter dark tunnels and abandoned houses (can't he hear the scary music?). The stakes get higher and higher, and finally hero's life (stack) is at stake.

When in maniac mode, I'd raise preflop as well, but only to 75c. I'd also c-bet 45%, not because the hand and board warrants a c-bet, but because I am playing to steal as many small pots as possible (exploiting reg villain), making it my last stab at the pot depending on what comes OTT. This turn card is one of the worst -> automatic shut down.

When not in maniac mode, I'd simply call preflop, and fold to a flop bet.

Thank guys for your responds. After 100 he had normal stats, and of course I haven't seen him doing stupid things after this hand

The size of the hand sample is crucial.
