Hero (SB): $27.35 (170.9 bb)
BB: $16.81 (105.1 bb)
UTG: $16 (100 bb)
MP: $16 (100 bb)
CO: $16.25 (101.6 bb)
BTN: $15.55 (97.2 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9 8
4 folds, Hero raises to $0.48, BB calls $0.32

Flop: ($0.96) 6 J 8 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.64, BB calls $0.64

Turn: ($2.24) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $0.64, Hero folds

Preflop: BB is unknown. 98o is my standard steal SB vs BB.

Flop: Hit 2nd pair and some weak backdoors. I believe the hand is too weak for check/calling, so decided to cbet. I could barrel T, 9, 7, 8 and maybe A as a bluff.

Turn: Hit nothing, so decided to check/fold. Not sure what to do vs his size, though, but if I call, I would have to check/fold almost any river so it looks like a waste of money.

I think preflop is too wide. Why not betting the turn? He is full of FDs, hands like 78, backdoors, gutshots, SDs.

villain might be floating here since he has position on you. Flop is not too dangerous and villain hasn't given you any reason to think he has a monster. I'd say a call for this small and display you have a weak J. He might reward you for that. Otherwise, if you do not want to go deeper into the pot and just wanted to take it down, I'd x OTF since you have second pair with weak kicker. We can bluff catch OTR if it comes that far.

We can cbet flop but I thin x/c would be ok too. OTT villain can be stabbing a lot of hands so you maybe could call there.

98o is a normal open SBvsBB.
OTF I prefer xc. We have a pair and Bddraw...
As played, ok.

As played, turn is a really trivial call with a pair and 5 outs if behind getting nearly 5:1. If he checks back even once per year OTR with a worse hand, you make a profit. Every two years you'll also make trips.

You are opening 45 % from SB?

Do you know from what fold percentage (from villain) you already make a profit on SB vs BB? Let's say, minraise from SB.

98o is in the random opening range from SBvsBB. Even on pokerstrategy it is so.

I agree that 98o is ok to open from SB.

If he folds more than 50% to a min - raise (if you minraise), he is your man.

With minraise required FE is 50%. With 2.5bb open it is 57% and with 3bb open it is 62.5%

We could open 100% and it would be auto-profit vs most villains.

The most important is that we can open very wide from SB.
Few years back it had to be much tighter. Nowadays, it is close to what you open from CO and BTN.

100% is too much as we will be OOP with mediocre hand...

Yes and we would get exploited very fast.

I am not talking about exploitability here.
