raise colculation

wsop main event final table 2014.3 handed.Jacobson with stack 84.600.000 Stephensen with stack 58.200.000 Vanhoof with stack 57.700.000 BB 1.2M/ SB 0,6M/ANTE 0,2M.They always raise preflop from the button to 2,6m or 2,7m or 2,8m.Jacobson constatly raise to 2,7m.How they colculate that?I try to find the equesion but i couldnt.I dont think they bet randomly

I don't think there is a formula involved. It has become fairly standard to open 2.2-2.5x in MTTs. You also open your whole range at the same size raise to disguise the strength of your starting hand.

Don't fall into the trap of sizing your opens by your actual hand strength. I still see guys at the micros opening 2-3x and all of a sudden open 5x. You can guess what happens next. Everyone folds and villain complains how no-one calls when he has AA. xD
