55 (and general low pocket pairs)

Opening and calling small pairs pre to setmine is ok.
When you hit a set OTF you usually want to go broke there. On some very dry boards you can slowplay.
Set vs set happens sometimes but you shouldn't worry about that too much. You will see plenty of overpairs and 2 pair also, and sometimes you will win with a higher set.

I've seen bits saying that playing them for set mining isnt +EV, but not sure if that is true at higher stakes as they seem to do pretty well in NL2

This is a great spot to call with your pocket pair vs 2 players. First that you have a good price in the BB and second you are in a multiway pot, if you hit your set you have more chances to get some action.

I can asure you that players at NL10-NL25 will also call any pocket pair is not something you can do only on NL2.

On the flop I will just shove with the set. If the BU has 88 or 99 good for him

The setmine is perfectly ok. The more people you play against,the more your implied odds.

Glad people agreeing. That is what I did and he had 98o. Snowie said that it was wrong and the difference was 8.3 bb, but I just can't see how? Unless it is against more aware players that are unlikely to get caught by a set. Think going to be taking any suggestions with a pinch of salt

Snowie tells you how you should play vs optimal villains. It will help you develop your game theory thinking but when you play at the micros you have to make some adjustments and think about your villain.
I put this hand into Snowie and for me it tells that raising is only veeery little -EV. For me the difference wasn't 8bb, it was 0.2bb.

Snowie would actually raise with 88,99 and 89. It can't put BTN on a range because there are no hands Snowie would play the same way. When we think about it, BTN doesn't have a good reason to raise anything in this spot. His nuts are not so vulnerable and giving some rope to his villains to hang themselves might be more profitable than raising. He doesn't have bluffs with very good equity and calling when multiway might be better.

However, we know that we will see 2pair hands and overpairs quite often so we can adjust and raise our bottom set for value.

The most important is not to worry and to get it in with a set.

Exactly. But there aren't any optimal villains (and Snowie isn't playing GTO either - even if it were to claim so).

Here we are 150 bb deep with villain and going broke automatically without thinking with bottom set on a straight-board three-handed is no good. That said, I'd go broke, but I'd think first.
