This is a typical situation. You raise with a high pocket pair (i.e. KK - TT), hear some calls and the flop brings exactly one overcard.
The question is: What now?
Against three or less opponents, betting the flop with this hand is nearly always correct. The chances that an opponent hit the overcard are not too big. And if you hold the best hand at the flop, you want to protect it with a bet. If someone raises you, you can fold in most cases.
If your opponents just call at the flop, you have to bet again on the turn nearly every time. If you get raised at the turn - just fold.
But at the river you should play check/call, just because opponents with a weak hand wouldn't call very often at the river.
