Thoughts ?

In retrospect I realize that if he was playing any J7, A7, JQ or AQ I would be absolutely roasted..my instinct tells me that I overplayed this massively but hoping for some feedback.

p.s. : can anyone tell me how to integrate the hand histories into the post?

That’s not difficult to post hand. You go to ‘embed hand’ and you set it on ‘Pokerstrategy forums’. You select the entire hand and you use the combination CTRL+C to copy this and then you go to your post and then you use and CTRL+V to paste it in your post. Then it looks like this:

Spoiler

$0.01/$0.02 No Limit Holdem
PokerStars
5 Players
Hand Conversion Powered by WeakTight Poker Hand History Converter

Stacks:
UTG ($2) 100bb
CO ($4.29) 215bb
BTN ($3.82) 191bb
SB ($1.73) 87bb
BB Hero ($2.03) 102bb

Pre-Flop: (0.03, 5 players) Hero is BB T♦: J♦:
2 folds, BTN raises to $0.05, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.08, BTN calls $0.03

Flop: 9♥: J♠: A♥: ($0.17, 2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.11, Hero calls $0.11

Turn: T♣: ($0.39, 2)
Hero bets $0.25, BTN calls $0.25

River: 8♦: ($0.89, 2)
Hero goes all-in $1.59, BTN folds

Final Pot: $2.48
Hero wins $2.45 (net +$0.42)
BTN lost $0.44

If I look to this hand I don’t know why you are 3betting this hand and the sizing is too small as well. I would make it at least 3x out of position if I 3bet, but with JTs I would just call. Now he will call with his entire range and that’s not what you want if you 3bet bluff here.

As played I would just check to the CO and let him bet again on turn and her-evaluate on further action, but most of the time I would just call and call a potential river bet as well.

Cheers,

Thank you ! Part of the reason for the silly 3-bet ( i agree) is that otherwise I find the gap between my VPIP and PFR gets very wide..For example when I complete in the small blind facing a MP or BTN raise with hands like ATs, or QJs or KJo, etc. Hands that are too good to fold but too weak to three bet. Is it still better to simply call in these situations?

This is a 3bet pre for me.
OTT you could just let him bet again. OTR you are probably missing value when you bet that big. This way you make sure he will only call with Qx.

otherwise I find the gap between my VPIP and PFR gets very wide..

Doesn't matter at all.. Good looking stats should be a by-product of good play. In the end your stats don't matter at all. The fact that you play good and make money does.
For example some players use limping strategy from SB. This can be very profitable. And it means that their VPIP/PFR gap is going to be bigger but who cares about that when they are printing money :)

Very helpful, thanks :)

Would you also c-bet that board if he calls the 3-bet? I assume yes given that you've caught a piece of it?

Oh shit, sorry I have wrote that this would be a 3bet but I was going to write that I would just call. I don't know why I wrote that :f_biggrin:

But if we decide to 3bet here, I think checking the flop is ok. I think we shouldn't be cbetting these mid pairs so much when out of position.
