If this start to your blog is any indication I may need to learn to read French and go have a look at your French blog. ♦
Congratulations on hitting the big $5k and being made a coach - nice work! 
With your trials at $2/$4, what do you attribute the swings to?
Were you overconfident and misplaying - missing key leaks in your game? Was it a substantial amount of negative variance? Tilt?
Obviously all the above are likely to play some part, just interested (in light of my current trials - on a much smaller scale, obviously!) which factors you considered to play the biggest part in the swings.
Also I'd be interested in knowing what you think changed in your game after your diversion to NL that has allowed you to hit such a nice run to the $5k BR?
I'll definitely be making the pilgrimage here every couple of weeks to see how the trawl to $5/$T is going.

When I arrived at $2/4, I was a 6 months old poker player that just didn't know what variance was ♦ Also, at this limit, the amounts you loose become more and more significant (like $200 lost in just 1 hour, $600 in one session !). My BRM was a 500BB one. I think I was in a scared money tilt, playing bot-style poker. Also, the almost $1K downswing around the 110Kth hand is a pure tilt. The day after, I cash out and decided to try NL.
After that, I read poker mindset as well as other technical books on FL. The NL switch was a good move. I learned me what is playability, position, implied odds, but also what is the cost of 1 single decision ♦. I've also read some highrollers FL blogs. I noticed they all play a non TAG style, but sLAG with a lot of calldown. During the summer 2008, I think I gave my thought on every single hand posted on the french analysis forum, forcing myself to response to hands I was unsure how to play ! (that's why i'm an analyst know -not a coach-)
When I came back to $2/4, my experience was just bigger than it was. I was an 1 year poker player (lol !). I used a more conservative BRM (I started to open $2/4 table with 500BB and mix it with $1/2 play. When I reach 700BB, I fully moved up). I think "poker mindset", bigger BRM, a play a little bit looser post and preflop made it. Also, I slightly understand what "playing opponent not your card" really means !

Hmm... I've made a personal goal to start to comment more on hands. I hate it sometimes because I know I'm guessing where there are gaps in my reasoning, but I suspect I need to commit more to it.
And I'm sorry, I'm an idiot, congratulations on being made an analyst!

Hey, "poker mindset" will tell you to put all emotional or personal feeling out of poker. And there is no shame to give your oppinion whaterver how skilled you are !

For me, I'm an egg so it's not really a shame thing, more I don't want to put other players, possibly easily influenced by someone seemingly "experienced', on the wrong track. I've gotten over this though and the comments will start (slowly) coming! ♦
I checked you french blog twice before, but wasn't patient enough with google translator...
I moved back to 3/6 few days ago because of withdrawing significant part of my BR, so I'm afraid of playing at the same table as you're now... Share your Stars' nick please

Yeah !!! this is a nice update for me !!!!
Everything worked fine. Since I went over the $5K, I just never had a negative session at $3/6. It's a clear upswing, but it made me happy. My lifetime $3/6 is now positive.
But a more interesting point is that I've tried HU-$2/4 (yeah that's the fashion right now). Up to now, I just try to beat the rake. That's hard... But for now, I'm still alive, and I really appreciate to play HU !
This HU shot is part of my long goal for poker. I really want to be a winning player at midstakes limits to be more resistent to tilt and to be a better hand reading.
There are so many HU hands I play. All of them seems more crazy than the other ones, but here is my best bad beat :

My favorite opponent was a guy that follow one simple strategy. He keeped his mouse over the raise button, and click to hit whatever the action I gave of his cards ♦ He was stacked with $100, 8 hands latter (yes, 8 hands), he was busto and left That's a pity. In the reports tab, choose the option named "winning summuray" (the very last one) instead of "by stakes"

Well i'm coming just like you, from another community (the spanish one) i just want to improve my FR FL knowledge , before starting to learn NL strategies.
I've been reading that FL SH is full of fishes in the upper limits, the problem is that in SH for what i've been reading multitabling more than 5 tables is not really an option, so do you think that despite that is really SH better than FR if your goal is to generate good money?
in which platform have you faced less skilled opponents?
PokerStars? Party? FTP?

Ok, I will stop here with hands. I went through many poker mood since the last update. First, I've experienced the most beautiful upswing of my young poker life. I won every TPTK, I hit every draw. Hands after hands, I progressively enter in a euphoric tilt. My mind was telling me to play longuer, and more hands. I felt invicible. Of course, all of this arrived progressively, as always in FL.
So, I'm back from 2 weeks with my BR. Nothing awful, but I broke the $6K level, and I saw myself shooting $5/T before the end of the month. So today, I'm a bit painful with "just" $5K.
I will take one poker-rest-day. I won't play, but I will download some FL-HU videos. I really want to give a serious shot with it, but I'm still searching for the right way to play it.
