When do we fold KK?

Preflop, I could obvious 5bet en get it in and it would obviously never be really bad. But I've came across a similar spot twice the last few days.
Villain opens UTG and snap 4bets pretty big. In both spots we were over 150bb deep which makes it a little bit more complicated. In both spots I flatted the 4bet and called flop assuming he would only push turns with the nuts. In this specific case, I can only imagine him doing this with AA, AKdd, KK and maybe QQ (but I don't really expect them to 4bet those pre EP vs MP.

Does my fold makes any sense or should I just keep on ripping kings in and pray?

Nice fold. I admire you. Basically I sometimes do the same thing but then (on a better board for me though) I can't fold and they of course always have AA =)
By the way totally stupid turn to "value" AA for him but whatever, it's NL5 and he as an overpair !

Shoving pre-flop seems like the easiest way of playing this hand, but if he's a nit you get only action of AA. Not sure I can really fold this hand with in mind he can easy have QQ here as well. Only problem is that you only beat QQ and split against KK and is folding the turn not to bad I think.

Cheers,

Just push with kk and scream to the dealer when the villain hits a full house with a hand like J8o.

When stacks are getting deeper, then it's not a bad idea to 3-bet our whole range with a smaller sizing like 6.5-7 bb, IMO. That way we can 3bet bluff cheaper and also lighter for value. If we face a small 4bet, we can play 4bet pot IP. (Have to be careful, because against UTG it might be dangerous)

Post-flop seems fine. I also agree that Villain is most likely overplaying his hand. Very ugly board for AA and I don't see him having JJ, TT. Maybe 4bet bluffed KQ, makes sense. It's funny, because AA and QQ feel like check OTT and also smaller bet size OTF.

this seems well played. don't see why people think that villain's play with AA is terrible, obviously our range is not very wide given the action, we have many QQ and probably many KK as well.
do we really have tons of JJ TT KQs JTs mp vs utg (also against a very large 4bet)? don't think so.

Just for curiosity guys: after looking at my stats this month I've pushed KK pre 21 times (65k hands) and lost: 8 against AA, 2 against QQ, 6 against JJ and won 5.

Hi zetozinho,
Small sample size. To make stats meaningful, there needs to be hundreds -- or even thousands -- of hands.

Over a long period of time, you will win against the JJs and QQs -- you'll still win about 17% vs AA too

Keep on keeping on!

He is going to need to have some polarization in his range here for a jam to be good I would think. You are going to need one of two things to happen: 1) He needs to be 4b/folding some or 2) he is 4b/calling wider than AKs+. If he only calls a jam with all combos of AKs, KK+, you are 32/68 dog if you get all in preflop. To be +EV in this spot, he is going to need to be folding about 75% of the time if you jam preflop.

(75% * $2.17) + (25%)(32%)($16.33) - (25%)(68%)($16.33)

($1.63 + $1.31) - (2.78)
($2.94) - ($2.78) = +$.16 (This is not exact, but you will be slightly losing when you include rake)

This is break even roughly if he only calls AKs+ and folds all of the rest. This is a very generous folding range and I don't expect much folding going on from him preflop.

If you think he 4b/calls QQ or all combos of AKo preflop, this becomes a slam dunk jam preflop. And, using that same logic, if I think he is at all capable of playing QQ or AKdd this way post flop and I got to the flop like you did, I am shipping flop when facing his bet. If you think he is playing the tightest of all ranges then I think you can make this fold

I play in an anonymous player pool and I am jamming this preflop. Fish are going to typically be linear in nature here and I would not be at all surprised to see QQ and every combo of AK call a jam preflop. If I did call his 4b preflop, it's going to be with the intention of pretty much going with my hand on the flop by jamming vs. a bet.
