Such a beautiful hand, I don't think we can 4-bet it, but maybe we can cold call? We're OOP though.

Hero posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.05

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.07) Hero has K♣ T♥ 9♥ J♣

UTG raises to $0.17, fold, fold, BTN raises to $0.58, fold, fold, UTG calls $0.41

It likely has enough equity for a call (I didn't check), but it is going to be tough to play post-flop OOP as you say.
I just make it easy on myself and don't ever cold call 3Bets unless I have a monster.

Let's say you flop the hear flush with no A♥: on board -- do you really want to risk stacks w/ the 2nd nuts?

I hate tossing such a nice looking hand though.

All the best,
VS

In short, it's REALLY HARD to make profit when cold calling 3bets oop. Your other suit is Thigh, which can lead to domination problems. The hand is nice, and it really depends on how wide their ranges are. If UTG has normal tight (10-15%) range, then BTN should have really strong hand to 3bet him. And versus those ranges, you are not in a good shape. But if UTG is looser, and BTN is 3betting junky hands (like Q975) then call is marginally fine.

If in any doubt, just fold.

Hi Kyyberi,
Would you call that 3bet if the 3better was CO and we are BTN?

No.

I agree with both comments of Kyyberi. You also would prefer to have lower hands to flatcall oop vs 3bets like QT98ds (same structure but with the K-high rundowns more straight possibilities are blocked against AAxx).

The smaller your cards are, the bigger chance there is that you are dominated postflop.

Yes in general. But not when you know, that you are up against AA in a 4bet-pot or allin (either HU or 3way). Then your Equity usually goes up holding a Q instead of a K. And there is another small Equity increase from Q to J. And another fact I recognized is, it does not make a lot of different which gaps you have if you get it in against AA. You have the same Equity with T875ds like with T987ds.
