Raising by pot size
Things are a big different at some rooms (such as Titan Poker), which have players raise by a given amount. Raises are then calculated as: Amount entered + amount needed to call a previous bet/raise.
If you wish to raise to $80 after having already invested $10 earlier in the betting round, you must enter $70, since you wish to raise by $70 (to a total of $80).
You can then calculate pot size raises as follows:
2 * size of opponent's bet/raise + size of the pot before your opponent's bet/raise was made.

Hand example(#4) from the article
Pot : $20
Villain bets : $8 oop
Hero is considering a raise that would give villain 2:1 odds.
Equation that was given in the article on pokerstrategy is
2 x villains bet + pot size before villains a bet on the flop.
(2 x 8) + 20 = 36
Raising to $36 dollars would give villain 2:1 odds, my question is the total pot after hero's raise would be (36+8+20)= 54
54:28 is not 2:1. It's also written as "villain would have to pay $36 to stay in the pot, wouldn't it be $28?)
