Indeed. I expect he's only check/raising with 2 pair or better or you have good reads on him.

Cheers,

Try use simple hack.

On the turn, if opp check raise and your hand is one pair, just fold. It doesn't matter whether it is AA or KK or even you have AA with nut-flush draw and wheel draw combined.

If you don't like the above simplistic line, try over bet 1.5x pot, and fold even to a min-raise. Opp has better than two pair, 100% of the time.

You need just 28% and vs 2-pair you have 20%. And there are many hands that you beat. You must call.

Interesting! This is a NIT strategy. But, I do not consider NIT to be a criticism. Many NIT’s are winning players. However, I prefer to play aggressively with All In quality hands. First, I would 3 bet to 15 Big Blinds preflop. I like creating SPR pot committed hands with QQ+. I would have shoved the flop because of the straight draw. If Villain is on a straight draw, I wish to charge him the maximum to call. Whenever I have an All In quality hand, I seek to shove. It does not bother me if my opponent’s All In quality hand beats my All In quality hand. Of course, I lose sometimes with hands like this. But, I win 67% of my All In shoves. I win 65% when my All In shoves are called. When you have the opportunity, swing for the fences, my friend. Swing for the fences – Baseball expression.

I got curious and tried your strategy for 3 days, It works...... it just lowered my BB/100 by a lot but i find myself losing less.... Conclusion, not a strategy for me but a good strategy :f_drink:

CO should check 100% of his range OTF. When he donks, AA is a mix of calling and raising (more calling with the A♦: given its blocking effect), but I would definitely raise here because:
1. CO is theoretically capped, so you should punish him with large bets/raises.
2. He's representing a fishy line.

Notice that you should be raising OTF very wide here (low suited-aces, even AK or AQ, strong PP). You have a massive range advantage and you block lots of hands he wants to continue, besides the fact mentioned in point 1.
OTT he should check-raise some flushdraws and AA is a mandatory call. Your turn sizing is ok.

I would never put 54s in his range. He doesn't have any plausible two-pair/sets here (besides slowplayed KK, and even that is very unlikely). 76s is also a hand he shouldn't call 3bets OOP preflop with 100bb effective, but as we've seen him calling with 54s, it's very likely he'll do it with other suited-connectors.
This is a hand that illustrates perfectly why we just can't make solid range assumptions about players at this stakes.

Lets say I was to raise the donk bet on the flop and the opponent was to 3-bet jam, would this be a spot where I call it off or fold?

I'm not folding this he can easily have AK or random pair+draw played this way
AXdd would make sense also and we don't have the diamond

I'd give NL5 people at least some credit preflop at least
Actually we can make an educated guess here I'd say vs this guy don't throw the whole limit or trying to put people on ranges under the bus :P
1) doesn't buy in full
2) Does play NL5 like you say
3) 43/25 over tiny sample means nothing in isolation but is a factor when combined with other information
4) His line alone tells us that the likelihood of hands like 45 is up as he's likely to be a fun player

so 67 45 A2 he's more likely to have

but also a lot more draws and random hands that a regular player would

While I'm here
got to plug a coaching tomorrow where we'll review a NL5 crusher pokerstrategist :P
Would love to see you guys in chat and hear what spots you want us to focus on!

In a vacuum it is hard to see villain having 54 here, small pocket pairs are likely though. However, we cannot start folding the top of our range here.
Raising vs the flop donk would also my preferred line with an OP here. I'd rather fold to a jam than let opponent buy a turn card.
