Is it ever +EV to fold KK pre-flop ?
Have you done it and when and why if you do ?
Thank you.
The question is --
Even if it is the correct thing to do, could you ever fold KK preflop in an MTT?
It is certainly +EV to fold KK in certain situations where you would have to shove into two larger stacks and there is a player with < 2 BB on another table about to go through the blinds. This is especially true in Double-or-Nothing formats, or satellites
I did something similar today holding A♦:Q♦: on the button with 3 left to the money.
Only in satelites and double or nothings it could be +EV to fold KK. Especially on the bubble, but it's a rare. In normal MTT's it's almost never +ev to fold KK pre-flop or you are sure you are against AA.
Cheers,
SDK1987
In sng or mtt I can count times I have fold KK preflop and thought it as reasonable play with one hand fingers. That during millions of hands so most of time I would not worry about that.

Hi strenkku82

If you like, I suggest creating a new thread in the tournament hand discussion forum for your hand. In this case though, as SDK1987 says, it basically comes down to a nasty river card.
If you have any questions, just post them in the Q&A forum.

4% of the time, our KK will run into AA at a 9 handed table so in theory 4% of time it would be +EV to fold if we knew our opponent had exactly AA. In practice, unless there are ICM considerations, it's lighting money on fire to fold KK.
