PokerStars - 40/80 Ante 10 NL - Holdem - 45 players - $1,00

BB: 1,184
UTG: 647
UTG+1: 1,277
MP: 2,555
Hero (MP+1): 1,170
MP+2: 1,970
CO: 6,291
BTN: 2,069
SB: 1,173

9 players post ante of 10, SB posts SB 40, BB posts BB 80

Pre Flop: (pot: 210) Hero has 8♦ 8♣

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 180, fold, fold, fold, SB raises to 1,163 and is all-in, fold, Hero(???)

The villain is a 22/14/1. How to play here? Call or fold. Which hands is + EV the call?

Hugs.

Not sure what his sample is and 1% 3bet% seems tight.
Read less I would call against a 3bet shove for 14,5bb effective.

Cheers,

1% is AF. 3bet was 0% but the sample is low.

Acordding Equilab the call is more correctly. It is 52% of equility and I think the dead money compensates the risk premium.

I doubt there is to much ICM in play so early in the 45 man SNG with only 7 players paid.
Only at the last 2 tables and final table I would be more carefull with ICM.

Can you post the Equilab breakdown of 88 vs Expected SB range?

I picked a range for an SB that thinks he might get a fold, and 88 is a bit better than a flip here:

       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    56.91%  56.47%   0.44% { 88 }
SB     43.09%  42.65%   0.44% { 66+, A2s+, KQs, A2o+, KQo }

Best wishes for a peaceful, prosperous 2020,

That's not a big problem, but if this was a final table thiese kind of spots are sometimes extreme ICM heavy.

An old saying says, "You can't win if you fold".
Although it is true, you can't bust out if you fold, either!

Yeah, but if you have less than 1bb you can't fold if you are in the blinds :f_wink:
