Folding overpair on the river

Hello Biel,

Pf standard OR with QQ.
Flop i'd bet bigger, like between 4-5 bbs. Clear value bet.
Turn again, bet bigger, around 8-9bbs.
River, if villain makes a donk bet and without any reads I'd fold.
As played, nice fold I guess.

You have to play your value hands aggressevely and with no fear, most of the players at NL2 will call you down until river with 2nd pairs.

who is villain tight or loose? we need info . Like what torcato said the flop bet should usually be 2/3 pot half pot, you were giving villain better pot odds to see a turn and catch up to you. On the turn you bet less than half the pot, some fishy villains in micros take this as sign of weakness and will raise on that alone not necessarily with the nuts every time ,that and people don't let go of much with such small bet sizing. If you raised him 2/3 the pot and he re-raised you that would show more if hes serious or not but his min-raise was also weird. Not sure what he has here the check raise indicates sets, 2 pairs , nut flushes w or w/o a pair, but your bet sizing is kind of letting villain do what he wants. Whenever you don't know for sure the best thing to do was probrably fold he most likely had you beat . try to work on betting higher and proper amounts

Betting a bit bigger could be ok for sure. Checking this flop wouldn't be a bad play, but balancing isn't what you should aim for in the first place.
Those min-raises OTT always look so nuttish...
It is a call, although 9x got there and you're blocking draws. He could play a 98s this way, although a decent player wouldn't be calling this hand preflop from the SB vs a late open. You block Q9s which he could also have.
I'd say this a spot you don't need to worry about. Call or fold, flip a coin at it ♦

Bet bigger OTF. a 40% bet is NOT a standard cbet when there is no 3bet preflop. 67%-80% is a standard cbet. Bc of the drawheavy board, I would go for 80% here.
Bet bigger on turn too. It's a relative blank. Draws have a no-brain call if you bet this small, you want them to pay good money to seek.

River is nasty, but for that amount, I'm making a crying call. You totally underrepped your hand so maybe he thinks he can bluff you out or think his Jx is good.

You guys are right. Looking at it now I'm really not sure why I didn't bet bigger on flop and turn. I probably expected his range was marginal and wanted him to call me. But looking at the board, it's pretty obvious now that my bets were too small.

I'll try to correct that in my plays... Lately I've been getting lots of value with my strong/medium hands by betting small and going to showdown, but it also generates some variance, I'm letting the villain outdraw me on the river too often.
