Hi,

So yesterday I ran deep in a hot 1.10$ tournament with only 12 people left when I got dealt this hand UTG and 17BBs left.
What would you have done in this situation when really close to the final table? Should I have done something different?

Hero (UTG): 17.87 BB

Hey there,

Nice hand, there's nothing you can do there. Well played.

Other line is mini raise but you take risk of the deeps stack to jam you.
In this situation, the second villain would 4bet and you would fold.
How you played I don't consider wrong. Open new tournament and good luck.
Congratulations for result.

Min raise/fold is still possible, but shoving is +ev for sure. it's to bad you walked in to better this time.

Cheers,

I would just fold it too. Ok, so it’s probably a slightly plus EV play. But I’m in a tourney with some real weak players. The guys to my left might fold to 90% of opens. I’m sure I have plenty of time to wait for a better spot.

No point in risking your tourney life on something that’s “meh”. In this example the BB will come along with all sorts and we’ll often find ourselves with a little over a 50% chance of winning. We’ll never own a smaller PP. And someone could wake up with the nuts and have us owned.

Lots of bad things can happen when you play this one. Is it really worth risking your life with such a good chance to lose your whole stack? No fucking way!

I think you should look if to loose calling ranges from the other players turn into a -ev shove like yadi mentions. If so folding is correct but I think SDK already considered that factor and shoving still is plus ev. Its up to you and the 3bet ranges from them if you want to 3bet call or just shove.

You just got unlucky, this is an easy shove IMO
