Folding is fine... Raising is fine... Calling is fine... Anything is always a potential play.
There is no such thing as a correct play in Poker nor in life. If you ever think you’ve found a correct play for some situation all you’ve done is shut off your mind to other plays in said situation. When you then find yourself in that situation, you will experience cognitive dissonance as the trusted play conflicts with your natural strategic thought-process which further hinders your strategic capabilities by damaging your mental wellbeing.
I’m impressed that you were able to backtrack there Ghaleon. I can see your inner turmoil. I can see all the little demons in your mind going mental when they recognise the undeniable truth written by the Hands of God. I can hear their rage as they roar in your ear:
“It’s NEVER a fold!”
I can hear them laughing as they urge you to mock the man who would set you free... They still have you under their spell Ghaleon. So be mindful when you consider this post. Be patient good sir, wait until you are calm before you attempt to reply.
If you think about it, an “actual range” is just a series of those “correct plays”. This is even less important than considering the correct play for the hand that you hold! It’s the opposite of important. Thinking like this makes you way worse at Poker.
None of that stuff matters at the tables. It’s all just GTO trickery. It’s the Devil I tell ya’.
All that really matters when making poker decisions is how much money you will make off your actual hand: You compare your actual hand to the villains range, consider future decisions, and guess whether you will make any money in the end.
That, right there, is the all efficient natural calculation. It’s easy to do and I’m guessing you can already do it extremely accurately for poker situations. You’d probably be a great player if you could get all this GTO shite out of your brain.
Completely forget about your actual range ghaleon. Discard any trust you have in all the standard lines that you’ve memorised over the years. Consider all your options.
