Hello everyone.
And welcome to my 3rd or 4th poker blog on this website. (only the first one lasted a couple years but I asked for it to be deleted for reasons afterwards.)

As you can see I have been a member for a while. Let me tell you a bit about myself.

About me

I am a 32 year old pharmacist that lives in Canada. Poker has always been my one of my favorite hobby. I started playing around 15 years old when my friend introduced the game to me. That same friend (who is dead now..RIP) sent me a starting hand chart for tournaments around 2007 (that he bought online I believe) and just following that chart I shipped a 20k FREEROLL tournament for 4k on a website called Poker.com..anyone ever played there? Got a littletrophy next to my name in everything..pretty sweet win for a 19 years old....My mom never thought I would get the money. Cashed out my win and went to be a baller for a while...

Anyways I will do the rest of my poker life in dots because I feel like it's gonna be easier for everyone to read

 From 2006 to 2008 didnt really play seriously
:spade: 2009 got introduced to pokerstrategy by a friend from work and starting reading articles - Found out that SNGs STT were the time of game I liked the most
:club: from 2009-2011 - Grinded SNGs on Full tilt poker, Beat the lower limits, think I was playing at the 11$ - 20$ when I stopped playing April 15th 2011 where I got totally disgusted by online poker (Black Friday) - My $ on Full tilt was on hold for a while - Until they unleashed it and that made me happy.
 In 2011 I got accepted into pharmacy school and decided to stop playing poker seriously, I would play live tournament from time to time keeping the flame going (shit that's already 9 years ago)
:spade: In 2014 I made a blog here playing cash game, I never did too well at cash game, I beat the lower levels kinda easily but then I got bored because of the amount of money I would be making in so many hours of play without any real results.
:club: In 2016 I think I made another blog here while deposing an amount on everest poker while tracking my account, I crushed the SNGs there but the traffic wasnt so good, after a huge heater I decided to take out my money.
 2016-2020 Been playing poker mostly live in a club called Playground next to Montreal,

The downfall

Since 2015, things that happened in my life diverted my attention from games like poker at the casino to worse games with huge house edge. I had a couple of bad sessions at the casino but I am happy to say that I am able to stay away from those games for now. I just have to be careful to not be sucked in again, for example by keeping alcohol consumption to minimum while in a casino. But you know what they say..once a degen always a degen...:truestory:

What got me into poker seriously again?
So now that smart TVs exists and theres Twitch on there, my wife has begun to watch online poker. Hearing the people analysing hands on stream
January 2020 I had a crazy week at work and went drinking with my wife - when I came back home I decided to deposit 100$ on pstars and this happened :

Yep, I luckboxed a 22$ tournament and I thought my play wasn't so bad.
So this graphic doesnt look good because :
1) It's all the game from 2006
2 ) I never played seriously on pstars

I withdrew some of the money and kept some on there to be able to play some mid $ buy-ins tournament.

Edit : Also in case it's not clear, pretty not much none of these tournaments were played in 2018-2019..and the luckbox win was around the 400 tourneys marks as you can see.

I have decided to give a shot at MTTs tournament, I dont mind going busto but I would rather not. I will try to study the game, maybe get some coaching.

I also made it deep a 3 day tournament live in the club I play at the end of january 2020..cashed around 420$ for a 110$ buyin.

Why are you making a blog now in 2020?

I felt I was the happier in my life when I was on here talking about my poker session and seeing my progress. Having a blog to talk about my passion and share hands / stories / sucess/ fails / goals is a great way to stay motivated.

I will also make a health part in this blog because since my 30s I can feel that my body hates me and that I need to lose weight...which is what I will try to do here with different challenges.

I do realize that the game is much more tough this day. But I believe with the super high variance in the MTTs there's some hope for a fish like me that didn't study the past 8 years like some of you have. Or maybe not, if not here comes free money? :f_biggrin::f_biggrin:

I have been taking shots at Omaha and honestly I feel like this is where the money is...But I am not confident enough about my game to make a blog about it or talk about.

Also I am taking it easy at work, I do 2 days a week most weeks it gives me up to 5 days to grind MTTs...Which 1 of them I will spend with wife and family so in reality I will probably get around 2 good sessions a week.

2020 GOAL

Poker :

:spade: Not going busto
:diamond: Play around 300 tourneys per months..this number can change i'm not sure what is my ideal number so far..I dont play that many tables at the same time anymore.
 Make it deep in one live event
:diamond: Find a good coach for a MTT session / hand review etc
:club: Check out if the hand review forum is actually helping me.
:spade: Improve my mindset - I can really get into a negative vibe sometimes and I need to fix that, but I feel that i'm taking this MTT thing less serious so I dont think the bad beats will hurt me as much.
 Try a different website than pokerstars for some MTTs so that my account is tracked and take a shot at mid stakes guaranteed tournaments.

There will not be any monetary goals in this blog, because i find that they usually just end up upsetting me more than anything and MTTs have a huge variance and my volume isnt that big posting a monetary goals would not be plus EV for me, but I just want to say I hope to end 2020 in the positive.

Health style

:spade: Find someone that wants to battle me for a weight lost challenge over a period of 6 months for 300-500$ (Money would be given to a mod or something before the challenge and the winner takes all) We could go over the rules with a third party but I feel a % of weight lost would work best and vs a guy thats around my shape.
 Lose at least 30 pounds ( Currently 255 pounds )
:diamond: Go to the gym 3 x a week - Focus sometimes on cardio more than muscle
:club: Run 2 10km official event.

---

ULTIMATE 2020 GOAL : NOT LET THIS BLOG DIE

I do not expect this blog to become legendary but you will see me in this thread take a shot at 100$ tournaments sometimes so who knows maybe ill luckbox something....Do not try at home kids.

I also recently realized that satellites are worth to play...Today I just won my entry into this sunday millions let's see where that goes.

I will have to read now on which software to use again for MTT.
I already redownloaded PT4, considering sharkscope...Any other things I should get?

Edit 1 : Found out about ICMZER ..this is gold now..I will probably buy it to study.

Take care everyone and thanks for reading!

P.S 1 : Forgot to tell you guys I used to be a mod for a good 1- 2 years here ...when the crew was Ingrind, Fabrice, etc..I dont think much ppl from that time is left!

It sounds like you're in Quebec -- is that correct?
If so, do you ever play on Loto Quebec's site -- I think its called espacejeux.com?

I've played on the BC equivalent called PlayNow.com

All the best reaching your goals!

But what is this man in your signature? "It's 2020, i'm old and have been playing poker for too long."
You're a very very young man! You can live for 60 more years.

When I was 5, 16 was "old",
When I was 16 30 was "old"
When I was 30 60 was "old"
I'm 66 now, and still I am not old.

Though I forget a lot more than I used to do. <sigh>

Hah, didn't know this signature would get this much reaction. I guess like in poker sometimes I do have a bad life mindset ! It must be from seeing all the sick people... Anyways, I will try to switch that soon :f_drink: You are right, 30 is young in a way, but I have a feeling that peak of humans in their 20s....after that you just start getting issues with your body and stuff :f_mad:

First report in my 2020 blog.

Today I played my first session while having this blog, It went ok.
Some things went great some not so much.

One thing I did realize about being a tournament player is that sometimes you get bored even while 4 tabling. I found myself browsing and doing other stuff while playing the game which I think is probably -EV in the long term. THe problem with tournament also is that you really have to put a whole day of work into it specially if you make it deep. So I have to be careful if to which I reg otherwise I won't have time to do things in the evening with the wife....

I also did a couple of mistake or so I do believe so I will go analyse some hands now.

Session highlight

:spade: Played my first omaha tournament EVER for 4.40$ ...Finished 20 out of 503 or something for like 15$..still happy of the result..I still feel like a fish tho :f_biggrin::f_biggrin: but some people are just terrible at this game. (I've seen ppl jamming with such terrible hands)
:diamond: Made a couple of deeps runs. Sadly no big cashes and most of the deeper runs were in lower $ buyin tourneys sadly.
:club: Notable finish of 25th/ 2297 in the hot 5.50$ tournament...like 34$

---

Here's the busting hand which I had doubts on in 5.50$ but now ICMZER told me it was the right play :

https://www.icmpoker.com/icmizer/#QQpnjR

Edit : on a side note, I am quite happy about my push and fold game, it seems pretty spot on after all these years, must be all the SNGs.

-----

So that's it for online poker today. I will game a bit ...Might consider gym because I'm only at 2x this week and tonight might go play a 100+25$ live bounty tournament.

Next update should be sunday Night late, after I ship the Sunday MIllions half price that I won my sat to :P I will also play the sunday warm up which I regged today.

No poker on saturday will be busy socializing.

Have a good weekend.

Sunday night update :

Welp, it was a rather disapointing day.
I busted pretty early in the sunday million that I won my sat into.
Then lost most of my flips.
Only made it deepish in the big 22$ ...Made like 64$ but def down for all the other buy ins lost.

I was pretty hang over from hanging out with my friend last night....went a bit crazy there...I guess it made it harder to play.
Anyways, next big session should be tuesday and or wednesday.
Take care everyone.

Monday night/morning surprise update

Came back from work, decided to do a small session before sleeping at 11PM. (Not a good idea considering how long tournament lasts, but I was in the mood.) In this time in Canada I have to say there's lot less traffic on pokerstars server

Good thing I did :

Tonight :
:spade: Made it to the sunday million anniversary with a hyper turbo satellite 11$..Finished 1st for my only available entry to the tourney :), I was quite proud of the quality of the push and fold. :f_drink: :club: Shipped a 11$ turbo tournament - Played pretty good on final table but I must say I ran pretty good iwth the cards. On the HUs I was down to 3 BB at some point and came back to win it all. _drink:
 Still in the money in the Big 16.50$ - Too excited - 15/34th so far, we will see what happens.

On a side note, it seems like I am doing quite bad in bounties tournaments. I keep losing early-ish. I know the ranges are usually most wider, I am guessing it's only variance....we'll see.

Might do another session tomorrow and / or wednesday...got some medical tests tomorrow hope all turns out ok...

Take care everyone. :roto2:

Welp, so this happened.
I agreed to a ICM deal while we were headsup. I played a solid final table, it's been a while since I didn't ship a turbo tournament.
Talk about run good..I mostly did the deal because I am so fucking exhausted. (I just shoved every hand after thea deal because I wanted to sleep hah, lost only 50$ on first place that was 700$ so not a problem, think villain might of not done such a good deal or he was scared of my heads up skills)
Some run good ITT.

Good night all.

Congrats!
I once accepted a deal in a PKO before I realized that there was no way to split the accumulated bounties, and I lost a huge amount of value.
Maybe not, though, because I was just too tired to play much more.

So I have been playing a decent amount today and yesterday.

It was quite rough.

I decided to deposit some money on 888 since my account is tracked there and for the lols, but because I don't follow BRM I kinda went busted with the money I deposited there.....Standard tournament variance, when you start losing with all the best hands you know it's time to stop playing there for a bit. (KK losing vs AK, A4 losing vs A3, JJ vs QT, etc...super standard stuff that i've seen very often in the past)

I don't feel like I am playing my A game today as well, I can tell I made 2-3 mistakes that costs me...maybe I should gym before my session sometimes to help with my focus.

The good news is that I am able to put a decent amount of volume for middle stakes tournaments, which mean I should be able to play around 300 to 500 per month if things go well. :f_drink:

I will make some clear goals for March at the end of the week. My graphic on sharkscope is looking much better, volume is helping.

Take care people.

February review

Health goals :

?( - Kinda failed my goals for the month, didn't go much to the gym and stuff, I will try to do better

Poker :

:spade: +3.5k month...yea I doubt that will happens again soon _drink: (well if we include the bink january 29th)
 Got back into poker the way I wanted to, been studying some hands, bought PT4 and ICMZER to study hands.

Some more accurate graphs since my comeback :

Since january 29/01

Since february 15th with my new computer PT4 graph :

---
Negative aspect of the month : I have been struggling a little bit with losing with the best hands as I always have when it happens to much in a row, I will need to work on my mindset more

Positive aspect : All hope is not lost in my poker game

Live poker :

 Didn't do too well in most tournaments I played live, I made a huge mistake in a 200+20$ live 3 days tournament by folding K♠:Q♠: 50 BB deep vs UTG raise because...I'm not sure why..guess I had a brain fart and I was thinking about my range being crushed but being this deep you have to call with that hand...anyways...would of hit the flush and made tons of money...so not too happy about that. I processed to lose the tourney with AJs pre vs 77..meh standard...

March goals

March will be a busier month for me work wise so I might not be able to play a lot of poker.

Goals :

Poker

 Play at least 300 MTTs range 3$ - 25$
:spade: Not lose more than 500$ (ideally not lose at all?)
:club: Get lucky in the sunday million biggest one that I won a sat into (I took a day off work in case a make it later)
:diamond: Try to play 3 live tournament and cash into one of them

Health

:diamond:GET BACK IN THE GYM YOU LAZY ASS
 CONTROL YOUR EMOTIONS MORE.

Won't be updating much in the next week, I will be busy with real life stuff, and also a bit sick.
I will probably update next week.
Take care everyone.

Hello,
just a quick update during my crazy week to talk about my first bounty tournament that I won.
I find them so hard, but I can understand why people like them so much, it's very nice to keep your bounty at the end of the tournament.

I made this hero (crazy?) call at some point during the tournament, felt kinda wrong when being so deep what do you guys think :
PokerStars - 2400/4800 Ante 600 NL - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 5.49 BB
SB: 7.34 BB
Hero (BB): 56.97 BB
UTG: 47.95 BB
MP: 30.39 BB
CO: 20.04 BB

6 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.25 BB) Hero has Q♥ T♣

UTG raises to 2 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls 1 BB

Flop: (5.25 BB, 2 players) T♦ 6♥ 2♦
Hero checks, UTG bets 2.99 BB, Hero raises to 8 BB, UTG raises to 45.82 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 37.82 BB

Turn: (96.89 BB, 2 players) K♥

River: (96.89 BB, 2 players) Q♦

Hero shows Q♥ T♣ (Two Pair, Queens and Tens)
(Pre 73%, Flop 85%, Turn 86%)
UTG shows J♥ T♠ (One Pair, Tens)
(Pre 27%, Flop 15%, Turn 14%)
Hero wins 96.89 BB

It was a little crazy but this player was not that tight, saw him open crazy stuff before and theres so many draws out there. I decided to call and got rewarded but it was close. So often he's gonna show and overpair there...You need some luck in everytournament at some points anyways.

111$ first place + 153.63$ + 77$, pretty good for a 3.30$ investment!

Feelsgoodman. :f_thumbsup::f_thumbsup:

Another great things about PKOs is that after you've won a few (usually around 4) bounties, you're in profit even if you don't finish ITM

Sadly it didn't go too well for me today.
I don't think I played bad but lots of standard lost..I will probably post 1-2 hands in the evaluation forums later.

One highlight :
Made it to the sunday million today with a 5$ SAT! It was nice. After that, I made it to the money which was nice. Wasn'T so nice because It was a bounty and I got there very late but still I had some luck to make it ITM so it saved my day a little. :f_thumbsup:

I am putting decent volume, I will have more time this week to play hope I ship another one.
Take care everyone

That's it for now.

Anyways, if you saw me at the tables today I wasn't really focusing I was studying at the same time so I'm sorry if I didn't make sense sometimes .

No big update for a while, I be working in the next few days and going away for the weekend.
I guess next poker day might not be in a while, wonder if I'll make 300 games this month.
We will see.
Take care everyone.

Hello everyone,
A quick update again,
a lot of things are closed down around me so not much to do but to play poker ! Which is kinda good thing. With the coronavirus I was starting to show flu/cold symptoms so I couldn't go to work as a health professionnal to make sure, I got to stay home and grind...Should be the same way for the weekend. Guess i'm putting myself in a semi quarantine...

Today wasn't that good, made it deep into the Big 7.5$ , busted QQ<AK A on the river, like 23rd place...for 45$..first place 1k...grrr...
Otherwise I guess it's mostly a losing day.

---

On a side now, I have been watching Spraggy on twitch a lot and I made it into the Spraggy christmas thing, I was able to complete 9 challenges and now I'm inside a tournament in which I can win a platinum pass...2nd place is like 12 weeks of sunday millions, must be nice.

--
I have not been doing well at all on the health challenge, considering everything that is happening around me right now, I am just taking it easy with the gym this month, I have a bike at home I might do some.....But yea, not that much improvement on that.

Take care everyone, you might get more update from me since my trip was cancelled with everything happening here.

I quite frequently wake up with sniffles, but it goes away by noon.
I've never worried about it, but nowadays I guess it wouldn't do to be seen in public blowing my nose etc.

I sure hope you don't have the bug, and that you get well soon and that you run good while convalescing!

I hope everyone is doing well,

I am still quite sick, it is quite possible I have the famous virus except they won't let me test for it because I haven't travelled lately and the tests in Quebec are in saturation...I tried explained to them that patients cough in my face everyday..Anyways, once the criterias get looser I'll get tested. In my age group the virus has a 0.2% mortality rate, hope I don't run too bad..at least the ventilators are still open in Canada! :f_mad:

Anyone reading this and thinking this is all a big joke should really consider staying home as much as they can, best way to protect your loved ones.

----

In another news, because I have symptoms of the virus I am now isolated for 14 days here with the wife. She likes to play poker and so do I so as long as I am breathing I will be playing.

Did a decent session yesterday, made it deep into a bounty builder and the big 7.5$ event I think, not final table but still ended up the day quite in the positive.

I did a session as well today, was a losing overall but not by much, I have been reviewing my hands and pushes with ICMIZER and i'm really good, each time I'm borderline on a push or a fold I make the right call, so pretty happy about that. :f_thumbsup:

I guess I would need to work a bit on my post flop play overall, been watching a lot of streaming and learning so I feel like im improving as well....Thank god I don't have anymore data on my internet so I can stream as much as want. :f_drink:

with everything happening, I should be able to make my 300 goals of tournaments! Sadly, won't be able to reach much of my healht goal...guess the new goal is stay alive?

----

Anyways, take care everyone, and happy st patricks day.

and don't you dare to go out to celebrate it :f_eek:
