PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em $0.02/$0.05 - 6 players

Button: $12.00
SB: $5.38
BB: $6.90 (Hero)
UTG: $11.48
UTG+1: $7.07
CO: $2.86

Preflop: ($0.07) Hero is BB with Ace of Diamonds (6 players)
3 folds, Button raises to $0.13, SB folds, Hero calls $0.08

Flop: ($0.28) (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $0.21, Hero calls $0.21

Turn: ($0.70) (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $0.57, Hero calls $0.57

River: ($1.84) (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $2.76, Hero folds

The overbet is tough. I folded cause I don't like high variance spots but I feel like he was trying to get me to fold an A. Everything inside me was screaming to call though... which I guess at times is a bad sign for me haha.
Am not sure if I should even be in this hand, trying to defends blinds bit wider.

Should we perhaps just c/r flop to see where we are at?

I think that the road to the high variance spot started pre-flop.

Others will correct me if I'm way out to lunch here, but I think ATs in BB vs BU traditionally wide opening range calls for a 3Bet.

       Equity     Win     Tie
BU     37.66%  36.03%   1.63% { 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q2s+, J3s+, T3s+, 94s+, 84s+, 73s+, 63s+, 53s+, 43s, A2o+, K5o+, Q7o+, J7o+, T6o+, 96o+, 86o+, 76o, 65o }
BB     62.34%  60.71%   1.63% { ATs }

the above was done with Equilab (free -- just follow the link and install if you don't have it already)

I'm curious to see what others think in this spot...

I think 3betting and calling are both ok but i agree 3betting is probably the higher frequency play and better option.If villain is opening 62% then 3betting any two cards is printing money that seems like a very wide range.The btn generally opens somewhere between 40% and 50% as a default in 6 max maybe someone can correct me if i'm on the tight side.As played i think you played it ok.

Yes, I would be 3betting this hand on BB vs BTN probably 100% of the time given dead money on SB.

As played, I think he has 98/TJ/bluffs, it'a tough spot because the plan is working in that he is barreling off as we want him to, but the river over bet is problematic. Without read, I am likely folding river.
