Hi everyone,

I've been dipping my toes in and out of poker for a few years now, have decided to give it another go and going to try and post one hand a day on here as a target. I've been rewatching a lot of training videos, especially w34z3ls stuff. I've been mostly playing NL16 and NL25 on pokerstars, but had a bit of a bad run so I've gone down to NL10, where there seems to be a lot more recreationals. Anyways on with the hand... (Go easy on me)

Only had 6 hands on villain who was 17/0

Preflop: A mandatory squeeze, but maybe I should have gone bigger to move out some of the callers.

Flop: Hit the set, but its a very dangerous flop. Again perhaps I should bet bigger here, but I tend to go a bit smaller when it's an inflated pot like a 4way 3bet pot.

Turn: Not a nice card, villain could have called with QQ, AK, AT, AJ, KQ, so a lot of combos have us beat here. KJ and KT maybe would call the squeeze but probably would have raised the flop. Decide to x/c if I get a decent price to improve.

River: Decide to donk here as I hope Ax will feel committed. Would x/c (or x/f) be an option here?

Any thoughts on the hand? Thanks!

First of all i play a way larger cbet. Sth like 3/4+. Many hands will call and you are in multiway. You don't like to see many cards. I like a donkbet otr as played. Turn is difficult, you play against straight almost always.

Hey seanspurs87,

Welcome to the pokerstrategy hand discussion forum!

My standard 3b size preflop is 3x + 1x per cold caller in position and 4x + 1x per cold caller OOP. That would make it 12bb in your case. You could also make it a bit larger like 14bb simply because the first raise was a minraise and thus the pot is smaller in the first place.

In multiway pots regardless of 3b you will want to bet with lower frequency(stronger range) and bigger sizing. Especially on a wet board like this where your very strong hand is also very vulnerable. You can easily make it 35bb on the flop.

Turn is a x/f unless you get the odds to call to improve to the boat. When villain bets turn he will always have Ax and sometimes fd, but Ax will be majority of his hands while sets and 2p should check back. Him making slightly less than half pot on the turn actually prices you in on a call. So, well played.

On the river, you made correct choice by pushing in. You don't want to give Ax a chance to xb river, you have to push to get paid by it. And besides, I really don't see him having boats himself after betting turn.

Good luck on your poker adventures!
Cheers!

Great! Thanks both for great feedback. Yeh I think the main thing here is the bet sizing on the flop I think. Perhaps I would be better using this sizing w/ Kx or 2pair, although I probably wouldn't have 2 pair in my range here.
