hello all.

i usually don't brag but i am really ecstatic and just had to share with anyone that'll read this. so, i have been on a 200+ mtt 'downswing'. to clarify, i see a 'downswing' as not having a significant cash or finish in an mtt over a large number of games. i did make small cashes, i broke even sometimes but, ultimately, i was on the bad end of variance and nothing i did worked. my longest 'downswing' before this was ~60 mtts, so this one was a struggle to get through.

but i did and i could not be more happier. while this isn't the 1st mtt i've won, it's definitely one i'm going to remember. especially after so many close calls and deep runs in the 200 mtt stretch. i even had a game that i thought i was going to final table and potentially make top 3 as I was at top stack with 2 tables left. then i proceeded to lose 6 big aipf spots when i was the favorite (80/20 in 4/6 flips) and ended up bubbling the mtt. to go from the top to the bubble in just 6 hands big spots crushed me. but that's variance and i'd do the same thing over again.

for my efforts, i won $43.65 in a $1 mtt.

here is the big heads-up hand that turned it around for me. i really like how i played the hand and that i got paid the maximum for it, but feel free to evaluate my decision making. i'm always looking to improve.

Hi badluckbox,
Welcome to PokerStrategy.com :welcome:

Congratulations on the win!

Be sure to check out the free money offers and bonus offers.
Read the instructions carefully -- they usually apply to rooms where you don't already have an account.

What kind of games do you normally play?
Clearly you play NLHE MTTs?
Do you also play Cash Games? Sit-and-Go?
Do you just play Hold'em or do you play any other variants?

Even though you're not new to poker I recommend reading our No Limit Hold'em lessons overview articles first.
That article leads you through the basics and beyond -- I read it myself for review now and again.

If you have any questions, just post them in the Q&A forum.

All the best,
VS
