I'm not sure it is way too loose. Yeah, it is loose, but unless you do this all the time -- and with everything in between, once in a while is OK.
The main reason is that now everyone at the table has put in their notes on you: "Stupid idiot open raises K3s in MP"
And now you can get paid off later.

When I used to play hold'em, I would do something outrageously stupid early on and hope that:
:diamond: A:  I didn't lose too much
:diamond: B:  It got to showdown

.

I vote "No". I think you played it the best possible.
As you mentioned, 3 is not likely for a MP open raise, and his overpairs and flush draws are very likely to call.

I'm curious to read what the real experts think though...

easy call, if he has 66 you would has lost your stack anyway.

would be more complicated with a hand like JJ, i think i would had folded.
