rebuy question

My friends and I play casually we have a $20 buy in and you are allowed to buy in as many times as you want but that stops one hour before end of the game. The top three chip totals share the pot (60% 30% 10%) at the agreed end time. My question is are rebuy-in amounts deducted from a player's total chip count at the end? To clarify If have $50 worth of chips at the end of the night and I rebought in $20 earlier is my actual total $30?

I have moved your question to our tournament board. There fits it better.

If you invest $20 in total and you get $50 in the end your profit is $30.
Most of the time there isn't a time limit of playing, but ends the game when there is 1 player left. Off course it's possible if you rebuy a couple of times you invest more than you win in the end. I expect you doing this, because the tournament takes to much time to finish on the normal way.

Hopefully helps this a little bit, but if you have more questions don't hesitate to ask them.

Cheers,

If you are the only player to buy in for the second time, you get a second set of chips which are added to the pool.
Further assume that this game is 6-handed.
So the total divided up now includes $40 of yours, and $100 from the other 5.

Let's assume you win.
You get 84 bucks, for a $24 profit.

If you had won w/o rebuying, you would win 60% of 120, or $72
So you can see you win back some of your second buy-in -- $12 of it in fact

To put in a different way, even if you win, you "lose" 40% of your additional buy-ins.
