In this video I will Review GG Poker. I will look into their TOS and rake schme and also comment on the story about the german highstakes pro, whos money got confiscated.
OK we're going to have to get harsh here!
Stop posting interesting videos when I'm too busy to watch them!
Some notes on the video:
PokerStars (and I presume other sites also) are aware of every piece of software that you run while you play -- even if you're not playing. To demo this, open the PokerStars lobby, then Equilab. You will almost immediately get a popup informing you that you have violated the T&C by running prohibited software. Later, you'll get an email with essentially the same info. You do not get perma-banned for this though.
I was stunned by the "one account per household" rule -- this apparently means that my wife and I cannot play on the site? Usually the phrase "at the same time" is included. I would ask for clarification on that.
Most of the terms called out in the security section are common to most (or even all) sites. Just go through this forum to see how many times someone has had their balanced seized "with no reason"
Rather than target just one site, it would be really instructive to take the T&C from several top sites and compare them side by side.
Some things are quite unknown -- for example nobody seems to know whether it is possible to hold accounts on Natural8 and GGPoker at the same time -- only playing on one of them at a time of course. I asked this some time ago because I wanted to create a tracked Natural8 account.
I liked the video, and clicked the like button, but not because I was asked 3 times.
Keep up the good work!

This is also the case on 888.

you can open an account on every site which belongs to GG poker network. this is not multiaccounting. same as if you open 10 account on ipoker network. no problem at all.
going further you can get 1st depo bonus on all of them (some mnetwork do not allow this).
though when you have multiple accounts on GG network it is forbidden to go busto in an MTT on GGpoker than latereg the same MTT on N8!!!

I explicitly asked GGpoker if it is allowed to reset my stack at PLO Rush and Cash to 50bb back when the minimum buy-in was 50bb. They told me it's no problem.
Now, you can sit at Rush and Cash with 20bb and I played some super short stacked Omaha R&C as it is advantageous if you are going for their dumb point leaderboard where betting gives you the most points and shortstackers are generally doing the most betting. I will update you on whether I get banned for this.
It will be kind of interesting because there's a guy who's sitting with 100bb+ but is always min betting on every street and always wins the first place at PLO2 Leaderboard. I'm not saying he's cheating, it is just clever use of game mechanics in my eyes. But how can employing a viable strategy such as short-stacking considered cheating while exploiting their retarded point system is not only allowed but also REWARDED???
Well if it's possible to have accounts on different skins, then why people have not been able to open an account to Olybet when they have one at GG?

Depends on which country they accept. AFAIK from the UK one can only play on GG cos in that country they have ragulations on onlinepoker.
Only GGpoker had license in UK (afaik).
Citizens of countries with no regulations can play "anywhere" (unless the specific site do not accept them)
Personally i think it's the best site online at the moment it's just a shame these fears over getting funds seized exist. But is the evidence for them seizing funds just one high stakes player who was previously banned from the network ?.I find it hard to believe a professional poker player didn't realise the software and player pools were exactly the same. And must of looked for the best deal on GG by looking in to rakeback deals and what network he was playing on.As for the software acting like spyware all sites are doing that these days to detect other poker apps running.I do have concerns now because of this but i don't think the risks are any higher than just about all other sites out there.
If you google a bit and check 2+2 forums, you will see that it's not just one incident. And the thing that bothers many is that when they do ban you and seize funds, they don't give you the exact reason and evidence, so there is no way you can defend yourself.

I could do the same and find multiple horror stories about any online poker site.
Wasnt there also some form of player rating going on for rakeback system? So if you were winning player the actual rakeback basically dropped really low? I think Kyyberi mentioned it at some point.

This is common to all poker sites. No poker site would reveal their evidence, since it would give instruction on how to defeat their security measures.
There are so many post in PokerStrategy.com that say the same thing: "They took my money for no reason."
The truly sad part is that some of the people are actually innocent.

Ye it's the new pvi/contributed rakeback system (player value index) lot's of sites use it now. From my understanding you get 50% contributed rakeback so 50% of the advertised rakeback and the other 50% is based on your pvi index. So you might get 1%- to 10% from that depending on your standing in the pvi index. But how it works exactly is a complete mystery to me tbh.
The PVI system is similar to the way that some people -- myself for example -- need to acquire 800 pts to get a blue chest on PokerStars
Others need to get more points.
Nowhere that I know of are the ratings described

I don't see why some players should be penalised over other players for being better i think rakeback + bonuses should be worked out on a level playing field imo.
PVI can be as low as 0.1 at the moment. It means that when you rake $100, only $10 is counted towards Fish Buffet.
Not other major site uses that. If they say they give certain rakeback, they do. Stars has weird system where same chest can cost 10x more sometimes. But it's not based on whether you are winning or not, as far as my experience goes. But it's still transparent, it shows you how much you need points. With GG, you have no idea as the points required is the same. But the amount of points you get is changed and no one tells you that.
The reason why GG is considered shady is all these non-transparent things.
-PVI, no one tells you what it is, and the details are very hidden.
- Insurance in PLO, outright scam. Numbers are weird and confusing, as even the good players don't understand the EV of it. In short, you can lose your whole stack even when you insure it as a favorite and lose the hand. Insurance costs as much as you can win from the hand. I tried to ask GG why the numbers in PLO are so weird, as they are not based on probabilities. Never got a reply.
- Banning players in the past. A lot of players came out after the latest incident and said they are banned from GG network withtout knowing why. GG admitted this, as they gave a chance to anyone who has been banned to send an application of removing the ban.
- Banning players and seizing the money. When they ban a player, they take the money. They say that it is given back to players, but despite of multiple people asking for evidence no one has stated that they actually received any money. And the procedure in the latest incident sounded like GG freerolled the player.
As Vorpal said, internet is full of people saying that site X stole their money. In most cases they had done something wrong. The difference between cases with other sites and GG is that with other sites it's clear that player has messed up. Like the one case where someone claimed at PokerStrategy that site stole his money, only to reveal that he had another account in his brother's name and they did some chip dumping. If you look closer to GG cases, there are multiple cases where player gets an email that his behaviour is predatory at the tables and he is no longer welcomed to GG. The terms of "predatory behaviour" are really wide, which gives GG an opportunity to ban almost anyone who plays there. I mean I asked them some years ago if using color coding to identify different player types is considered "predatory behaviour" and they said that yes it could be. Go figure.
In the past GG was a lot worse than now. And that stigma stays with them. Their CEO stating publicly that "pro's are not welcome" while sponsoring players doesn't help that. There is a thread About GG rakeback where some of these topics are covered.
