I think you should be glad you did fold, though.

Although 4 cards to the straight is an ideal spot to bluff, especially against an MP opening range, you don't have the outs to make calling profitable.

Line of BB makes not to much sense, but against a over bet you can't do much else than folding. The board run out is really bad and what you already say I doubt a random villain on NL5 will over bet bluff.

you have very poor river playability. Just fold now.
Also given his large sizing, you can probably play a strategy where you are only defending strong Flush Draws, and 2p+, perhaps pair+straightdraw (JJ/J9)
