Hi everybody,
my name is Pascal and I am located in Germany.
Over the course of the last few weeks, I made a bet with a friend. It's about a PLO Bankroll Challenge from $50 to $1,000 in 365 days. My buddy is an experienced poker player and thinks the challenge is impossible for me, as a rather semi-experienced player. The challenge will start tomorrow 12am.
Challenge excepted! So that the whole thing has a meaning we have the following bet. If I win the challenge I will get 500$ which I can donate to a charity of my choice. If I lose the challenge I owe my buddy an expensive dinner.
Charity of donation will be the local children's hospice. In addition, I will donate another $500 of my bankroll to the organization regardless of whether I achieve the Challenge or not. In case I have less than $500 bankroll, the entire bankroll will be donated.
Now to me:
I play after a long break since a few months again more from a fun point of view about break even maybe with a little plus. For me the challenge will be a big challenge, because I know how variance is annoying in PLO. I will play with a semi-conservative bankroll strategy which looks like this:
PLO2 = 0$ - 250$
PLO5 = 250$ - 500$
PLO10 = 500$ - 1.250$
PLO25 over 1.250$ (this would be me dream goal)
After 365 days we will take a look at the bankroll and donate the money to charity or I will own my friend a dinner. If I bankrupt it the first time, I get to refill another $50 for one more shot.
Why this blog?
Since in order to reach the challenge I need to improve significantly as a player, I want to share my questions here on the blog on one side and give a weekly update on the other side to generate some commitment.
Since I have a very demanding job I will probably only be able to invest 10-15 hours a week in the challenge. Therefore my game has to be very disciplined.
I am looking forward to grow with this exciting challenge and to do something good with it. I hope one or the other also finds favor.
Cheers,
Pascal
