Hi Guys, My name's Darius and this is my second time creating a blog. First time didn't quite work out because I lost all my money too quickly and didn't have nothing to write about :(. Anyway I'm 18 and I'm from Swansea, South Wales. I currently "go" to Uni, studying Computer Science and Spanish. I put go in inverted brackets because I don't really go too much, and have already decided to drop out and do another course somewhere else next year.
I've been playing poker for 2 years, (naughty cause I was underage, I know!) started off on PrimePoker depositing $10 dollars and playing a conservative bankroll management of 1 buy-in (stupid, I hear you say?) It did work for me though, I must have been on the most unreal upswing off all time, and even though I didn't know how to play poker as well as I do now, I think I've made more money back in them days than I have last year. Then I started playing on PokerStars, not really sticking to bankroll management then! And managed to lost quite a big chunk of money, before depositing $60 dollars on a random saturday and working my way up to $2000 within a week.....(maybe the 2nd most unreal upswing in history?)
I'd like to think of myself as not a bad player (it might be arrogance talking though) and the main reason for me losing money quite often is losing my head and playing out of stakes, so I'm hoping writing this blog will help me cure the problem. And obviously maybe some of you guys could chip in a few wise words there and then to improve my play
My plan is to use poker to pay for my spending money for my holiday in Ibiza on the 22nd of July...which means I've got about 10 weeks. I'm hoping to get about £2000 which is around the $3000 dollar mark (hopefully will be a lot less by the time I withdraw the money)
My bankroll atm is: $55.76 and that's after my rakeback of $33 coming in last week and me working my way up to $120 and losing it stupidily, by not following bankroll managament again. But this time I will do it properly!
So my plan is to play $2.25 sit and gos until I get up to $250 (I know it's not quite the suggested brm of 2% of your bankroll, but I feel it's good enough for me to try and get to $250, where I can play $5.50 tourneys.
I would like to try and mix in some cash games with this too, maybe on the $0.02 - 0.05, with a buy-in of $2 which is 40 bbs. What are your thoughts on this, guys?
The way I'm gonna work is, read 1 or 2 poker strategy articles in the morning, since it's around 5am in US, and I don't think there'll be too many people on FullTilt. Then I will start playing around midday, which is around 10am in US. I will play 2 or 4 tables at once, (having experience in multitabling up to 24 tables - which may be the reason I was doing crap!)...Maybe I'll start with 2 and see how that goes for me. One thing I can't decide on is whether to play 9,18,27 or 45 seaters. I will try and play 6 tournaments in this "mini" session. Then have a break.
Then I was thinking of reading a no limit cash game article and having a go at that for 2-3 hours. Before my evening session when I will read another article before playing 8 tournaments. What are your thoughts on this guys ? Good, bad idea ?
Ok, at the minute, I have not shorterm and longterm goals, and could I ask some of you to try and help me with them. I know it's something that should be really done by yourself, but I can't think of anything, and don't want my goals to be too "outta this world" which they normally are.
So atm my 10week goal is to get to: $4000 - So I can withdraw $3000 and keep $1000 ![]()
Bankroll: $55.76
Congratulations, if you've made it this far. I appreciate you reading my first post and promise that my next ones won't be as long as this
Thanks and see ya on the tables !
