Preflop
Can I defend this hand vs an EP open 100 bbs deep, or should I just always fold it? EP is unknown.

Turn
I bet into the PFR because I was planning on calling a turnbet. And because I find opponents on these stakes almost never raise a turn donkbet like this, even if they should for value, I thought I could see a river for a cheaper price in case I was behind, and also some river-check-backs so I can get a showdown. Not talking about regs but, people on these stakes never know what to do against these bets, and they end up taking the passive route more often: calling and checking. I also bet because I think there are a lot of pocket pairs I think he would call but not bet himself.

Any thoughts on my thinking process?

River
What do I do here?

at 100 BB effective, QJo is quite a bit loose to call pre
It doesn't hurt to do it once in a while I guess -- you have to have some speculative hands in your range
Others play hands like this all the time and do OK

This hand is a good illustration of why that is -- the QJo hands get dominated by the UTG opening range which includes lots of KQ AQ etc hands

Pre-flop is a fold against most villains. As played I would check/call turn and her-evaluete the river. Leading is strange against the aggressor and with the Q you have only a bluff catcher.

Easily dominated hand versus UTG open so likely marginal defend at best. We would prefer to defend stuff like 75s over this as those hands rarely overlap with UTG range.

As said above just x-c turn and evaluate river. Donk bet doesn't make sense really for few reasons:

- Hand is likely not strong enough to bet turn and bet river so we would prefer to keep pot smaller
- Donk bet blocks villain from bluffing as second barrel with low equity holding
- Turn doesn't change board in any way

So we don't mind if villain check turn as our hand prefers small to medium sized pot. Also as default only donk bet turns or rivers if board change on favourable way to your range. Here 2 is as blank as it get. Turns that would change board could be e.g. 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3. On these cards I would think to have some donk betting hands though QJ I would just check on any turn. Above of course depends how wide we actually defend pre and I don't know how much that is simply limited by high rake environment. Have never played holdem cash really.

Thanks guys! I will fold these offsuit broadway hands just every time from now on, especially in these zoom games. I probably do fold it a lot, but I should just always fold it.

You never played holdem cashgames?? But you do give some good advice and good elaboration.
I see the donkbet wasn't too good at all. I would not have done it vs a reg because they can hand-read better.
I would ask what do I do then when he bets turn and river, but the real answer I guess is don't play these dominated hands.

Well never is too strong word but in total maybe few thousand holdem cash hands live games included.

But when you play more than couple million sng/mtt holdem hands lot of same things apply to cash as well. Though biggest difference is that I have not had need to be concerned of rake in hands itself :)

Ah yes the rake. At the micros it's not too good :f_cry: .

I like MTT's as well. I like the dynamics that different stacksizes bring. And the pressure of getting knocked out can generate some nice foldequity sometimes at the stakes that I play :f_biggrin:
