how many hands for a general idea if my stats on poker tracker is accurate , 20k ? 100k

i know that more hands = more accurate . but when can i start to feel confident that the numbers is actually close to being accurate when looking at my stats such as vpip pfr etc . and the bb/100 won etc ? :f_grin:

In the meantime, while you wait for someone who can give you a better answer,

What you said is true: more hands = more accurate. I think you can say they are accurate when they don't change anymore? But this would mean you are not changing your game in time ... so unless you play the same way for a looot of hands, you will never be able to say these stats are accurate, because they are changing because of variance and you change your playing, play other limits...

But ... for certain stats you don't need a big sample at all for them to be close enough. You should think of it like this: The more often the situation occurs, the sooner the stat will be 'accurate'. So preflop stats like you mentioned specifically: VPIP and RFI or PFR take less hands then something like 5bet-range or whatever.

I guestimate you need a few thousand hands for your VPIP/PFR to be very close, but could be sooner. But this is really a guess. At least you don't need 10K hands for VPIP/PFR. A lot of times my hud gives my averages after a few 100 hands already.

Your winrate would need a lot more hands, if I had to guestimate maybe a few 100K hands but this could be more. Other people might have more experience and give you a better answer to this.

A good starting point is about 20k hands. This will give you a good idea of your style of play. The hands you are opening, raising and calling. It will give you a decent idea about your c bet strategy and some of your overall frequency.

Good luck to you

ok so by now i have 18k hands . and the vpip pfr etc stats would be enough for me to start see from what position i play what hands and cut out loosing ones and keep winning hands in those positions ? :)

and for the bb/100 i would need more hands to see if my strategy is winning or loosing long term ? :f_grin:

Hey 18K hands is good to take a look at your averages, but for what you want to do you need a lot more hands .... You want to see if you play 76s profitably from MP for example right? But your sample size of 76s opens from MP is not that large yet. This is a very specific situation.

There are things that can be said by looking at your stats and graph, but these would be more general things. You could post you positional stats if you want feedback on them.
