PokerStars, Hold'em No Limit - $0.02/$0.05 - 6 players
Hand delivered by Upswing Poker

UTG: $5.19 (104 bb)
MP: $9.00 (180 bb)
CO: $8.92 (178 bb)
BU: $5.00 (100 bb)
SB (Hero): $12.52 (250 bb)
BB: $5.00 (100 bb)

Pre-Flop: ($0.07) Hero is SB with K Q
1 fold, MP raises to $0.15, CO calls $0.15, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets to $0.75, 1 fold, MP calls $0.60, 1 fold

Flop: ($1.70) T 2 J (2 players)
Hero bets $1.09, MP calls $1.09

Turn: ($3.88) Q (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $2.05, Hero calls $2.05

River: ($7.98) 4 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $4.21, SB (Hero) folds

Not sure about my postflop line. I have a strong straight draw and two overcards but that's it. On the turn I hit TP and now I have no idea why I didn't bet. Maybe I was scared of better hands but then the call doesn't make sense. On the river I felt I can't call with TP good kicker so I folded.

The river fold seems reasonable villain has AK TT JJ QQ JTs QJs 98s in their range so a lot of hands that have you beat which means you have to find a shed load of bluffs to warrant calling.I think we can go smaller on the flop like 1/3p which is usually my go to size for 3bet pots and barrel turns then decide rivers.Very interested to see what solvers do here size wise on the flop and then on heart and non heart turns i'm pretty sure non hearts are a barrel but not so sure on hearts if we still continue bluffing.I do like the fact you check this turn though you have good showdown value now but it's no where near nutted on that board i don't think you need to bloat the pot to much id also go for some pot control. And on the river as i said earlier villain probably doesn't have enough bluffs vs value combos to bluff catch this one.

Hopefully someone with a solver can put the puzzle together it's an interesting spot with quite a few options going on with the flop turn and river tbh.

flop hits his calling range quite hard. I would mainly checking on this board or bet 1/3 or smaller to see a cheap turn.

river vs size its ok to fold.

edit : i dont use or have solver but i think solvers would check with KQ here a lot on the flop.

Very interesting hand, thanks for sharing.

I thought ranges would be close to 50/50 in equity here OTF and that we would be checking the flop quite a bit but I ran it in equilab and SB still has around a solid 55% advantage. I guess Hero has the nut advantage because both players can have JT,JJ and TT but SB has the over-pairs as-well, I think this means we may be able to bet with a larger sizing on the flop because villain's continuing range should be a fair amount of top pair, AT,KT type hands that probably arn't folding to a larger bet.

I agree with Reds and think you could probably range bet 1/3 with everything here in 3-bet pot with 55% equity but maybe betting larger is fine as-well with our premium hands and draws here. The turn is an interesting card, because I'm not sure if its a +equity turn card or -equity turn card. I think the Q can hit both players. With the sizing we used on the flop I think villain probably don't float with many Q-high that make it to the turn besides a Qx FD and many of his Qx FD's are discounted because the board takes away his Q♥:J♥:, Q♥:T♥:.. The Q♦: turn helps his 98s, his QJ and KQ. We have more AK here but I think we can kind of discount those from our range since they should be using the smaller sizing bet on the flop I would imagine.

Turn: we are still ahead of his FD's and SD's, also ahead of AJ and KJ. I think I do prefer the check call because there are many rivers that can be scary I think and we would be OOP on the river not knowing where we stand in a 3-bet pot once we check and he makes a sizable bet I think his range is more skewed towards less AJ and KJ now which is bad for us.

River: On the river he could have TTJJ,JT, possibly some portion of AK with over-cards and gut-shot that call flop. Probably a good fold since he can't have too many Qx in his range that big flop bet. he doesn't really have any SD's and his FD combos he would like in his range are blocked by the board on the flop.

Edit: I'm wondering if we can muck on the turn because villain called a big 3-bet pre, big flop bet and is betting now on the turn which kind of discounts AJ,KJ in his range, if he has all better hands and a few NFD's maybe we can fold since we won't know if an A♥: or 9♥: is good if it comes on the river.

I would just call pre-flop with KQs. Especially for 178bb effective and playing out of position I would try to keep the pot smaller with a hand that plays well post-flop. Decent change you still play multi way if you 3bet. This time 1 player folded, but pot is already pretty big.

I think if we bet flop smaller we can likely bet turn as well for 1/3p and check river although being oop does make it tricky im not sure if thats a line we should look to take more ip or if its ok oop as well.

I also think much easier to play if call pre.

Thanks, I will consider this next time.
I study RYE ranges and there are only 3bets from SB against other positions open.
I guess I need to adjust the ranges in multiway.

in the SB you should play 3-bet only. KQs is a 100% squeeze here as you see.

the hand is played fine. i like the XC w turned TP. OTR you will have to call sometimes w a very low frequency.

nice hand, you cant win them all!

I dont think this solver works for nl5 AND 180bb deep stacks...
