Villain SB is a LAG (35/20/11 AF 2.5). I know we can discuss a "fold preflop" against the RFI, but those guys are MP 70/15/3 AF 0.8 and CO 100/50/50 after a couple of hands. I want to play such guys in positions. The SB 3bets oop and makes things interesting. Now the question is, should I fold here? I have great board coverage with my hand that gives me implieds.

iPoker - €0.50 PL Hi (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

BB: €50.00 (100 bb)
UTG: €65.64 (131.3 bb)
MP: €79.71 (159.4 bb)
CO: €20.00 (40 bb)
Hero (BTN): €50.00 (100 bb)
SB: €49.50 (99 bb)

SB posts €0.25, BB posts €0.50, CO posts €0.50

Pre Flop: (pot: €1.25) Hero has 8♠: 3♠: 7♦: 5♥:
fold, MP raises to €1.00, CO calls €0.50, Hero calls €1.00, SB raises to €5.50, fold, MP calls €4.50, fold, Hero?

Spoiler

Hero calls €4.50

Flop: (€18.00, 3 players) 6♦: 4♥: T♥:
SB bets €18.00, fold, Hero calls €18.00

Turn: (€54.00, 2 players) Q♠:
SB bets €26.00, Hero calls €26.00

River: (€106.00, 2 players) 8♦:

Results: €106.00 pot (€1.50 rake)
Final Board: 6♦: 4♥: T♥: Q♠: 8♦:

Hero shows 8♠: 3♠: 7♦: 5♥:: (Straight, Eight High)
(Pre 39%, Flop 71%, Turn 48%)

SB shows 4♣: 5♣: A♥: A♦:: (One Pair, Aces)

Hero wins €104.50

Well preflop is indeed fold to open raise. These type of hands in multiway pots are not performing too well. It doesnt mean we cant call here with ss rundown category hands but when we start to include 2 gapper low ss rundowns our range has ton of crap. That crap will face lot of tough postflop situations in multiway pots where ultimately lot of value comes from being able to dominate opponents hands.

Sure we can sometimes hit really nice even with this hand but how about when flop is like Q85, 88T, 679, 872 etc? We are hitting every one of these flops in quite a good way (compared to most flops) but how happy are we really to build pot or face any heavier action? When we call here in BU we have to assume pot to be very often at least 4way and blinds might also squeeze. So yeah hand like 8764ss would not be horrendous to me but preferably I would still take bit higher rundown or perfect connectivity.

As played I would call SB 3bet as his range is not overlapping with our hand and we have position. This is mandatory call at this point but do I want to be in this spot? Probably not. Still call is better than fold.

On flop we should be quite worried of villain having like AA, KK, AQQ with fd or some Tx with solid back up when he pots 3way on flop that is not good for his range. That said we do have way too strong wrap to fold SPR 2.5 so question is do we call or shove? Are there any turns where we can fold or shove and turn our hand into bluff? I dont think we can fold pairing turns as boats are going to be very rare. Flush completing one we probably can fold at least if we dont make the straight. We can potentially also bluff heart if villain check. But it sort of work both way that if e.g. 9♥: comes we might not get value either anymore. So considering how big of wrap we flop I would just shove flop and hope he doesnt have fd. Well even if he does have we have like... 15 non heart straight out so I suppose it doesnt really matter. We just get it in and be happy to have got such good flop :)

I am not playing for stack or 3 big barrels with those hands. I check one streets depending on villain, but if you are up against weak/passive opponents, you regularly can squeeze out 3 value bets. if you have trips or non-nutted straight. I am capable of folding against a raise, and against fish it´s even easier since they raising ranges are so imbalanced.

Villain is hitting a companying flushdraw 1 out of 5 times whereas the SPR is 2.5. And against the remaining naked 1-pair hands I am favourit with either wrap or pair+draw, close to flipping if I hit a bare single pair which happens more often than odds to call pre. Solver would surely call pre but he cannot because he is up against another solver that has a balanced 3-bet range with low rundown stuff too, but real player often do not balance their 3-bet ranges, all the tight VPIP 20 players usually raise AAxx and some few ds perfect rundowns. Many even raise AAxx only unless it´s BU vs CO.

Since our opponent is not a tight player Idk how much my theory holds true. But they often do not balance in a right way either ie. by 3betting Axxx wheels, A-xxx rundows or low card rundownds. They just randomly 3bet semi-connected suited Broadway hands. For beginners it makes sense to avoid those spots but if advance into more solid environment, we have to adapt solid (=aggressive) frequencies. Solver ie. is making big calldowns with any flush for stacks or non-nutted straights on paired boards etc. And he is also regularly losing with such hands but the cheaper odds of calling seem to require him to do so. Assuming there is no raise-button, when you face a pot-sized bet and you get odds 2:1 you will have to call 66% of you range all streets down to showdown to put your opponent indifferent, whereas villain has to keep firing 66% to keep up the pressure of betting big with a polarized range and that´s basically a tons of hands when we start from the flop and lots of big pots flying around the tables.
