iPoker, Omaha Pot Limit - $0.25/$0.50 - 6 players
Hand delivered by Pokeit

UTG: $108.87 (218 bb)
MP: $44.35 (89 bb)
CO: $67.89 (136 bb)
BTN (Hero): $71.69 (143 bb)
SB: $83.05 (166 bb)
BB: $118.85 (238 bb)

Pre-Flop: ($0.75) Hero is CO with Q♣ 2♣ Q♥ 4♥
UTG straddles, 2 players fold, Hero raises to $3.75, SB 3-bets to $12.75, BB calls $12.25, UTG calls $11.75, Hero calls $9

Flop: ($50) 9♠ 3♦ 9♣ (4 players)
SB bets $24.09, 2 players fold, BTN (Hero) folds

Total pot: $50 (Rake: $1.83)
SB wins $48.17

3better 38,20,17 very 3bet happy, 3bets tons of trash, bb overcaller loose passive ~50/4 guy, utg maniac-ish
preflop problem here is the overcall from the bb. i find it kinda ugly to put 140bb in here, because i would assume he's capable of flatting KK, AA there. otherwise would had tend to 4bet. note he's also 200bb deep and maybe money scared or whatever, don't want to put that much money in with just aces... who knows^^. would say so deep definitely have to take that into account.
utg i don't see ever flat strong pockets and sb is just super wide.

flop the 3bettor is betting half pot into 3 players, super dry flop. my analysis of his post-flop game in 3bps is bet pot with overpairs, strong made hands. half pot with drawish hands, weaker hits. the problem here is why i folded that the flop is so dry and doesn't make much sense to pot anything here.

Questions
Preflop: 4bet? think fold is too tight with lot of players and our hand is ds and at least connected. so think here call is the most solid option.
Flop: Call one Street at least?
3Better has with his cbet on the flop the clear polarity advantage and he barrels turn very frequently (70%) even with trash

Seems well played to me. 4betting our hand would not really push equity advantage even versus wide ranges?

Though one thing to note here is that we are not really 140bb deep because UTG straddles. So shouldn't we approach this spot more as 70bb spot?

Anyway flop I would just fold as SB does still cbet versus three players.

PS: I also wonder if potentially using smaller than pot size open would make sense in these straddle pots?

Can't really play it any differently.

this IMO

Preflop: 4bet?

I really love punishing overagressive 3bett0rz ;) Watched an old RIO vid about this topic I remember QQds was possible to 4bet but I think villain should have like 20% 3bet but this one seems close

you are long enough in the game so I dont have to explain the importance of samplesize in stats, I guess 17 is % of 3bet from this guy and besides you have plenty of hands you have seen him betting the trash.

Now I can imagine all the junk hands he 3bets preflop just because you let him get away with it. for this reason alone I would not hesitate to push the queens just to let him know he has to stop but I admit this might be slighty -EV depending on wether you will play more hands with this guy or not.

BUT I only explain all of this for HU situations because after BB overcalls even I dont see a profitable 4bet because the overcaller wont fold anymore and most likely due to a high faced hand you will not be in a good shape flipping 3ways QQ. On top you would have position. I prefer 4betting lose OOP

Flop: Call one Street at least?

If he barrels turn frequently and you call flop you wont be able to fold turn. that being said: If he really does not pay attention to his holecards but is the one who plays the other players / the board I see that line as the alternative line to 4bet preflop that you are looking for.

basically you are looking for the answer to his spewy bullshit :f_love: I understand but again even here I have to say I would at least love to be 3ways OTF. cbetting into 3 is super hard to bluff complete air and his stats also dont seem too spewy for such bs so even though he seems to be overly bluffing and you know it you still need to find the borderlines of playing TAG and you just did so NH IMHO

4betting seems really optimistic with double suited QQxx. This hand has some playability post-flop with flush and set potential, but playing for stacks pre-flop is to much I think as PLO fish.

@efkay nice post^^

basically agree of course. only about the reason to post this hand was just to get some kind of outside views. thought it was played ok but some other input maybe could give another direction of view. if you understand :f_drink:
on villain have like 6k hands. 3bet is 17,8 overall, 17 vs hero. so think it's not that personal. pretty solid losing but not braindead or hardcore maniac. also made a review of his 3bet play already and took notes.
about preflop, luuke also had some short video in the crushing small stakes series (facing a wide 3bet oop). QQds could be like around 80% 4bet and as its at least kind of connected it could fall into that too. of course we are ip and 140bb deep (or70bb:f_biggrin:) so it's different but still, with two very wide ranges in play and "40-50bbs" in the middle i would have no problem to 4bet. in trainer in a scenario for 75bb, facing a 3bet and 2 coldcaller it shoved 60% too, for example. and there the ranges were way more solid obv. was just annoying with the bb overcaller as those guys can hold strong pockets there for sure and don't fold anymore of course. also just in general reducing my equity. 3 way vs 2 wide ranges, one without strong pockets i have around 35% equity. it's not huge of course but enough.

at the flop then was tank again at least as my notes were that he could be not that strong. but in that scenario fold was just the most solid option imo. he invest like half of his stack oop and on that flop to bet pot with any kind of 9s or AA, KK won't make that much sense too, so thought that the notes could be not that helpful here.

about the straddle, yes to describe it as deep was probably a bit off.
using smaller sizes could be in theory in the right spots ok too, like stealing against tight regs. but they are pretty rare due to table selection and when i just mainly raise straightforward for value/ to build a pot with good hands, i think raise pot is still the best approach here.

QQ42ds without A or K is roughly flipping versus any 3bet range. Versus REALLY wide (over 30%) it's a marginal favorite, but due to rake falls to breakeven. IF we get the money in preflop. As opponent most likely just calls with non AA/KK hands and can see the flop, his EV goes up a little. And ours go down a little.

If our hand is more connected, like QQT9ds, our EV goes up a little. But still it's basically just a flip. And we don't really make money with 50/50 flips.

Here the 4bet is out of question imo, as there are 2 callers already. So 4betting makes 4way preflop all-in, which is not profitable with this hand. If the hand was a bit stronger, shoving pre might be marginally +EV. Our EV is a lot better if we see the flop and then stack off, if we connect it.
