The terms of the promotion have changed.
:diamond:  The number of hands per block have gone from 60 to 200
:diamond:  The number of blocks has changed from 5 to 3
:diamond:  The hand rankings have changed. Instead of bonuses for particular cards in particular sections, bonuses are now based on whether the hand is a pocket pair or a suited connector.

The full promotional details are here: https://www.pokerstars.com/poker/promotions/daily-cash-leaderboards/
Please let me know if that link doesn't work.

This means that all my stats will need to be re-calculated, since the score for all affected hands ill change. For example, 22 was once a score of 5, not it is 20 (4x multiplier for PP 2-10)

When I've done that I'll post the results.

Here is the new payout structure:

The Stats

From the histogram, it is apparent that this is not a true normal distribution.

In any case, here is the data table. As you can see the standard deviation are fairly constistent over 5 iterations of 100,000 200-hand simulations.
The whole run took just under an hour.
I'll now do 5 iterations of 1 million 200-hand simulations
I don't know how to tell exactly what form of distribution this is.
 #   Count   Max   Min    Mean  Median  ModeV  ModeC     Std
 1  100000  5034  3138  3892.8    3883   3857    221  213.00
 2  100000  4985  3178  3892.8    3883   3892    231  213.30
 3  100000  4928  3111  3893.7    3883   3886    225  214.30
 4  100000  4915  3102  3892.3    3883   3865    218  213.00
 5  100000  4950  3018  3892.3    3882   3832    220  213.20

Updated Stats

Over 1 million 200-hand simulations the following graphs is generated
I increased the number of bars on the histogram, and I've marked the standard deviations.

Yesterday, the top 5 places in the NL 25 were all occupied by players who placed above the 99th percentile.
300th place was taken by a score of 3956 — roughly 52nd percentile.
There were six players with this exact score — but only one received the $3 prize money. I don't know the criteria for breaking ties.

This promo version heavily favours high pocket pairs, so if you get a lot of them, you'll not only score well in the promo, you'll likely have a great day at the tables

How Each Hand Compares to the Average

The average of all possible hands is 19.98
If you finish 200 hands and are below average, you're having a real crappy day!

Really nice thread Vorpal! So the leaderboard is not more complex as the lucky you have through 600 hands? am I right?

Thanks!

Welcome to PokerStrategy.com! :welcome:

Like most promotions, this one gives you additional incentive to play. Also, like most promotions, the odds of succeeding are somewhat low — the trick is to play in such a fashion that you are in profit whether you succeed in fulfilling the promotion or not. This promotion is one of the best, since it does not require you to make any changes to your normal strategy.

Cheers,
VS
