Bit unsure on this hand. In a vacuum I think its a fold pre; we have a read that MP is a fish and BTN is a weaker player aswell.

I decide not to lead flop as I think i'm isolating against better (straights & sets).
BB seems strong with this lead. Perhaps we already give up here?

Turn is a great card as it makes 55 less likely and we now beat straights. Once BB bets and MP shoves I'm pretty sure we're beat and we have an easy fold. We lose to 75 and 77 and to 74 but it's unlikely because we hold 2 4s. I don't think they ever show up with a straight here (but it's 10 PLO so who knows?), if they have 5x with 3 live cards for a higher boat we're in good but they have decent equity.

Thoughts?

The problem kinda starts preflop. Unlike in NLHE where we are more incentiviced to call along with marginal hands pre due to odds, in PLO we need stronger hands the more players are involved. I´d say we need at least 2 nutted components to call 3-way or 4-way so we when having the nutflush-suit plus semi-connected side-card we might call A♥:Q♥:T♣:4♦: (another broadway card connected to the 2 existing broadway cards) or A♥:5♥:5♣:4♦: (a fourth wheel card to give us a better potential to hit disguised lower wraps). The lowest pairs (:6x::6x:, :4x::4x:, :3x::3x:, :2x::2x: ) are theoretically really very weak so we still would try to avoid them unless they come in premium versions (doublesuited+semi connected or nut-suit+perfectly connected). We don´t like the :8x::8x:, :7x::7x: and :5x::5x: very much either. Their SDV in checked pots is often very marginal and they often run danger becoming oversetted, so those pairs should be actively avoided by newer players imo.

As played I think the flop check-call is marginal but okay. I think check-folding against a bet and a call is fine too if opponents are unknown. You see, folding our set when situation gets a little uncomfortable and being unable to ramble as there will be always higher sets possible is quite an issue which has to be taken into account 1 street earlier.

If we lead and get called twice or check, face a bet and a call at least one of our villain should have a stronger hit if they are solid (set or wrap) whereas heads-up less stronger hands like combinations of 2pairs, oesd, pairs/blockers/gs/bdfds could stick around too. If they are loose passive or passive and straightforward (weak tight) you can lead here to get protect your hand (you´ll get value from mixed combos like oesd+pair or 2pair+gs+bdfd and fold out some more marginal stuff that might has equity). Against two regulars putting bottom sets in an expanded value range when also bluffing here is a more advanced concept I´d say and probably not a good idea in R&C lowstakes. But basically in PLO there are always lots of shifts so it can make sense to bring in the bet now, if so I would bet half-pot (3way in SRP on a lockdown texture). If we bet, we have to pot-control later on, 3way we do not want to invest 3 bets on a pairing board paying off a higher full.

I like the turn check due to lack of information and both opponents having continued. After MP shoves this is a pretty easy fold. I think especially BB played this very bad, his starting hand is miles away from a VPIP, you should be more inclined to check-call SDV+blockers than betting yourself and finally being last to act after your check he could have seen your action after MP´s bet before making a decision with his medium-strength hand. MP´s shove is marginal but if you decide it is good enough in that range setup you have to go with it. At the end for you this is a clear fold facing the given action.

Yep just fold preflop without ds version. In solver AT44ds would probably squeeze but would not recommend that necessarily.

Bottom set suck on these type of straightening or monotone flops where sets are easily just drawing hands versus multiple opponents. Of course hitting dry low set is dangerous in 4way pot anyway. We should mainly assume it's going to be 4way as the way people tend to think is "I get good pot odds so need to call wide" in BB shoes. In reality they should tighten as opponents increase.

But yeah it's not just about possibility of higher sets but also about straights and two pairs. Only 4 is great for us. We do have nbdfd which helps but versus such big bet and call I would leave the stage on flop.

Yeah thanks for the replies guys.

From hand reviews I've noticed that indeed my preflop seems to need some work. Especially in R&C where the games in general are much tighter I've noticed that I'm speculating a bit to much. The result is that i'm often winning smaller pots, but once pots get bigger I'm more often dominated in one way or another because my ranges are just weaker in general.

I've also lost a decent bunch of middle set vs top set hands, which makes sense because i'm probably overvalue pocket pairs preflop to much.

In terms of the hand I think folding flop is probably best, but i don't have the call given what villians show up with. I just overvalue the read that two villians are recreational. While that may be true our hand is just to weak to start with.
