Anyone recommend a good outdoor security camera? Or RING doorbell system with AV built-in

• Maybe it has a different name? E.G. lot's of the Aĺibaba products mass produced in the far east can fall under this bracket. That's not to say they're crap, either, truth be told. I once had a cheap-imitation "iPhone" - it wasn't Apple, but yet it wasn't a bad product either.

Please post them into this thread. I have yet to find a product that exists that is not listed on Amazon, in some guise or other. Be it similar sounding name, or descriptive name, or non-intuative gobbledygook. But it was there. However, that's not to say it's impossible!

 wireless
 colour
 weatherproof
 hi-def (1080p will do)

Nice, but not necessary:
 pan-tilt-zoom remotely. I recognize that for this you need power-over-ethernet, or it would be necessary to run power cable to the device.

I'm going to the library tomorrow as they have a back catalogue of Which? Magazine guides and there was one about these cameras a few months back, my dad tells me (he's old school, swears by that magazine - he's a luddite though, just turned 80. Google to him is a mathematical term - he knows it means the Internet search now, but cannot use it. He sticks to print media only).

Nest, or Ring seem to be the big two. But this Tapo brand looks impressive too. And it seems Google bought out nest, so if you got a nest camera the nest app/control panel no longer controls it, you need Google Home. Confusing.

I'll try to take a screen grab of the article and scan the text, if I find the article. Which are very good reviewers of tech.

The good thing about Nest (even if Google now own them) is that although the wireless version sticks to your wall with a magnet - making theft a real easy possibility (you only need to screw the base plate onto the wall for easy removal to charge it) - you can buy a security device that attaches the camera to the base plate via a steel cable, and when you need to remove it, you unlock its little padlock!

Vorpal - don't rule out the wireless option. Power-over-ethernet isn't a complete necessity because the wireless one holds its charge for six weeks, and as I mentioned in the above post when I quoted you, there's a security anti-theft device that makes the removable camera un-removable without the key.

Means you don't need to drill extra holes for ethernet cable or power cable. As long as your router is near enough or WiFi signal strong enough.

If they're anything like my Wanview indoor camera, they also have an AD card slot that stores 6hours HD locally.

The Google/nest ones have unlimited data storage - but only if take out a 5 monthly cloud storage subscription. . .i
