Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

$0.05/$0.1 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

Known players:
[tg]UTG1$1.80:///////;UTG2$1.95:///////;MP1$3.85:///////;MP2$4.79:///////;MP3$2.14:///////;CO$3.04:///////;BU(Hero)$2.05:///////;SB$1.40:///////;BB$2.00:///////;[/tg]
Preflop: Hero is BU with T:c, T:d.
4 folds, MP3 raises to $0.4, CO folds, Hero raises to $2.05(All-In), 2 folds, MP3 calls $1.65.

Flop: ($4.25) 8:h, K:d, J:h (2 players)

Turn: ($4.25) 5:c (2 players)

River: ($4.25) 2:s (2 players)

Final Pot: $4.25.

Was I right to try to steal preflop? I thought the guy could be SSS, but a reraise would force him to lay down AJ AT and maybe even JJ and AQ. Certainly I had a med/small pocket pair beat and if he calls with AK, I was a slight favourite on a coinflip. so what do people think, did I play that wrong?

On the other hand, if he was a fish, then I would definitely be ahead of most of his range.

Hello jupiterthegreat999,

if opponent is indeed an SSS player then his range will be AQ+/99+ and against this range your equity is only 44%, meaning you are behind his range and therefore lose money to him in the long run.

Against fish you would probably be ahead, but without statistics I would just prefer to stick with basic strategy and fold TT here, because you can't be sure whether your push is profitable here or not and you can't be sure opponent is a fish.
