Cash games challenges and leaderboards

Hi. I moved from GG to P*, and I'm trying to figure out their rakeback system.

1. How often do people get challenges? After clearing the first mandatory chests I was offered two challenges worth $2 each. As I'm playing NL200, I cleared it in a few minutes, and now challenges are gone. Is there some kind of a limit how many challenges can a player get per week, or should I get more soon? Can I expect higher challenges at the start of a new week?

2. How often do they change their leaderboard promos? It seems like a nice addition to rakeback (even thought it's fully random), but looks like the cash game leaderboard ended on November 19, and wasn't renewed since then. Is the 'break time' between their promos a normal thing, or should I expect additional rakeback in that form to be gone?

3. Are there any smart moves to increase my rakeback (should I opt-in for something I missed above)? Any other tips, for someone who's new to PokerStars?

Thanks!

Hi grzesiek,

1. You get offered your 40% rakeback challenge every Sunday. You can collect it twice. The amount offered is based on your current chest level. I had never seen a $2 reward, but I don't play at the lower levels.
2. I didn't know that they had stopped the cash game leaderboards. I wasn't notified. I'm sending a strongly worded letter to the Times. However they do have Spin&Go leaderboards at the moment. Too bad, I would occasionally play Hold'em just for the fun of seeing how far I could get on the leaderboard. They never had leaderboards for any other games. An interesting thing about the leaderboards — if you're running hot, you usually build up a decent stack, then at the end you get a bonus from the leaderboard. If on the other hand, you're card dead for 200 hands you get nothing at the end.
3. I have no idea how to get more rakeback than you mentioned. Each time you play, you get a ticket to a 50-cent power-path spin&go, and you can win some pretty decent money as the path progresses. The best I've done so far is a $109 ticket. The $9 "rake" from that ticket helps hit your challenge target, so I always play those tickets.

Instead of a cash games challenge there is a new promotion that runs for a month called Cardex.
A card is given, and you must win a hand including that hand.
could win up to $5k every day.

And the power path is excellent value. I have turned twice daily free 0.50 spin and go ticket in to $109 and played Sunday million where I turned entries into cash 1:1.
Power path in general quite good. once a day I play 100 tickets added where ITM is at around 30% and then on Sundays play $11 100 seats GTD.
Ever since PS launched Power Path I’ve gone through steps many times and collected dozen $109 tickets. With most of them played Sunday million but I think twice played step 4 where once I got bronze pass.
But overall played couple more step 4s due to it already running before satellite was done so autoreg in to game.

I'm wonderig if this is exclusive to only some players? Been playing for over a month, but there are 0 promotions for me. 0 Challenges. I play from Denmark.

Yea that’s interesting. I got this promo same then when cash game leaderboards stopped. But it says that this will run until 10th of December. Hopefully normal cash games LB will make a return then.

Check with PokerStars support.
Many promotions are only available to certain countries — which might be why I don't see the cardex promo.

Today the CardeX challenge has glitch or something. Completed all cards but the challenge won’t finish. Just in case I kept playing and won with last given card 4 more times bust still. :why:

Where do you find the cardex promo?
I checked the PokerStars promos page and didn't see any mention of it:

Not in Canada. Pity
We did have it before, and maybe will again — just not now.

Says it will run until 16 dec.

payouts are really small tho. 0.2,0.50,1,2,5, then jump to 50 and 5k. cant find the table that shows payouts, saw it when it started. got $1 twice and other times 0.20 in avg of 400hands played.

Do not have Cardex either (playing from Malta). Miss the daily cash game challenge - added traffic to the tables and some softer players - hope they reinstate this soon....

I agree.
It was the only reason I played Hold'em

Is it a public knowledge what exactly influences how high (monetary value, not the %) weekly challenge a player gets?

I started playing stars on Thursday, as soon as I got to Silver chests, I got a huge $2 worth of weekly challenge. I thought it's fine, as I just started (I'm playing NL200, so clearing a $2 challenge is a matter of few hands). Challenges reset on Sunday, so I hoped I would get something bigger this time (currently I'm at mid-gold chests), but I got a $2 challenge once again...

I wonder if that's because I don't have any play history, and they need more data (and if so, how long do they need? a week? a month?). Are there any clear rules on what exactly counts when they decide the number?

Do we have NL200 zoom or reg tables players here? What's the $$ amount of weekly challenge you guys get?

As for Cardex, I don't have it either. On the pokerstars website there's still a leaderboard promo up (even though inside the article it says it ended :P). I wonder when they update it, or new the leaderboard :(.

I think the points target and reward will be personalized to you based on your playing history.

For me, I don’t remember getting higher value faster than a month. Maybe at first when still Silver Chest level but from Gold onwards it’s been 1-2 months minimum until higher value given.
This year I had 3 months $9 and this month got $36.
But yours will probably shoot up quickly as you play 200nl and will be diamond shortly.

as for Cardex, it says that it will run until mid december. So hopefully LB will make a return.

I think that this is correct.
This is my first week of Gold chests, but I'm still playing a silver level, so it will likely take several weeks to earn a gold chest.
At least this week, my Challenge will yield $22 each time.
