Will a very good player, who is just playing for the fun of it be classed as pro or as a recreational player?
I understand that this PVI thing is only for rakeback — is that correct? Is it documented anywhere?

I am one of the 'good' players playing for fun. My Rakeback is close to 0. But German players generally get 30 % less RB due to taxation.

And yeah, PVI does reset after a while, but it just takes like a couple of hands to be set back to the old PVI. Give or take around 500 hands as far as I was able to observe.

Have not played at GG but afaik there is no way to directly check it. What you can do is calculate it from you rake, supposed rakeback and actual rakeback received I guess

 After your session open pokercraft, and find out what your net winnings are for the session.
 Compare this to your new balance. Pokercraft ignores rake, so the difference is the amount of rake you paid
 You should have 100 points for every dollar spent in rake.
