Hello guys, I will be playing MTTs on the side, because after my trips and studying Barry Carter's great books and content I am hooked!
I have money on 5 different sites, most of which I don't have hud for so it won't be a bankroll challenge, just a totally chaotic cash gamer's taste of tournaments.
I have just my ancient graph from Stars where I played FPP satties and freerolls, occasional sunday Storm, but don't let that fool you - I very much am a fish.

I am currently just playing all sorts of variants like a proper fish - live MTTs, PKOs, mystery bounties spins, all that jazz.

STRANGE online format
I regged into a $50,000 on Tigergaming for $11, not knowing what it actually was. Well turns out it was a 2 day tourney with MANY day 1s. Like a lot! I ended up having to cancel my plans for next week, actually woke up at 2am to play the day two as I had decent stack, you are in the money. You need to wait a WEEK to play your day two when you play the first day 1!

I was on my way to the final table, last 17 people were in, when this hand happened:

Ouch? Still it was a pretty nice score from $11, I just know I am not playing this one again a week in advance! if you include day 1s I was 16h out of at least 5,000 entries.

Well, actually, if I count all buyins I entered I am down close to $11,000 over the last 3 or so months in MTTS! There are reload bonuses on Betonline and Tiger, if they keep coming I can keep trying in a free $109 every time they come luckily. While grinding them $5-$11 ones and learning :]

Goog luck on your tournament grind LemOn! :f_thumbsup:

Sounds like you are taking it serious when you wake up at 2am to play! :f_cool:

Sick suckouts, like the one in your vid, might take some time to get used to (at least, for me they do...) :f_ugly:

Thank you very much for the comment! When you have a day 2 with a top 30% chipstack, already in the money it was hard not to This structure is taken from big live tournaments.

This is what is interesting about MTTs, every Chip is worth a lot more than ChipEV when bubble factor is in play, the spots are rare, suckouts cost you more equity - that's what also makes it interesting however :)

Not bad in the same sesh!
This is pure profit, I played the $22 and $109 tourneys by just depositing and clearing rake.
Drawback is - you need to clear $55 +$11 in 4 days, and you get regged at start so it takes a LOOONG time to get ITM

I must say I love live tournament Sattelites - there's just something cool in turning a few bucks into packages and experiences :)

Barry Carter gave me some big lessons in my Bratislava Main Ticket win. main thing for cash gamers is: there is no half assing. Even with Aces when shove doesn't seem right, you should just straight up fold.

The full version is out at:

Teaser 10-minute version:

Oh yeah music by Zakhar Valaha Pixabay if anyone liked the tracks.

I am grinding the $2 (Well, fake news, as there is a 1.5x addon, as you find out in the video that's really a $4 tourney) KKpoker satties that run every day and get you to $30 main package tourney for various live events, and I actually bubbled one yesterday There's always a new day though.

Thanks for the teaser, definatly going to check out the full video.

Currently playing a lot of sattelite tournaments, for the Chinese new year mtt's on GG Poker.
I must say, I NEVER registered late... But yeah, see a lot of big regs buying in for 10BB. Also seen bad players who got the chip lead with some lucky outcomes, who keep on playing a lot of hands, risking their ticket, while if they just went and "sit out" they would have won one.

Folding AA also sounds weird to me... Although, I did lose a hand where I had a decent enough stack, to call a shortie preflop all-in SBvsBU with AA vs AQo, then came a QQx flop...

Also, if you start playing a sattelite mtt early, there is a decent chance that you have a stack which is 2x or 3x the initial stacksize when late registration closes, which is a big benefit.

Thank you very much for watching!

Yes, it's all very counterintuitive. The AA folding is when we have a very big stack and there's a bubble and much smaller stacks - it won't be close as those players should play loose against each and you just take down the tournament 50% of the time when they are about to face each other.

It is very painful after playing cash games for 14 years to have to open fold AKs or AA - I couldn't let those sweeties go and started flatting and minraising but that's even worse the math says

I tested Barry's strategy - when there's a 1.5X Addon you get insanely close to money by just buying in the addon and buying in without playing a hand - almost every time I was a flip away from the ticket. We talked about it after, there are actually early bird discounts on KKpoker - they lower your buyin by 10% if you are in first 10 entrants, it just goes to show that even the site is aware that late regging is a thing. There's also the thing with - well if you are not a pro, you just want to play more poker, so even though it's not ICM optimal, it might be good for you to reg early to have more play time :)

My approach is with an add-on I will just late reg as it's just too good, if I play a high buy-in satty where I think the field is very soft and I want some hands/content and learn I might early reg if there isn't an add-on :)

Good luck with your satellites, as a cash game pro of 8+ years I must say that they are the perfect way into MTTs - you get to learn a lot and risk very little. And the live ones are a ton of fun - take a look if some of the KK events take place near you, I'm playing the $2 Steps every evening trying to bag a package

Ok so funny story - I was playing the $109 and $22 chico tourneys I got for free on stream.
And my IRL friends who don't play poker raided my stream. I bubbled the $109 and was ITM battling in the $22 one. The break was coming so I was like hey - my pals are here, let's show them some action during the break.

So I opened and intended to play a single $3.5 Mystery Bounty 6 Max SnG where you get usually $1.2 for knocking someone out.
And well...this happened . . .

Nice hit.
But I am curious, are you playing those major MTT from begining or using late registration. I think that there is like 4 hours of late reg for their major MTT.

This is one of the reasons why it's +EV for them to have reload bonuses that effectively give you 200% rakeback in the form of tickets. They make you reg from the start, you can't unregister, they boost their guarantee hit chance, get net depositors in, and many people fail to clear the $55 for the $109 ticket I'd assume as you have just max 5 days to do it - it is a very smart model actually, I'm surprised other smaller sites haven't caught on.

To have $300k guarantee on Chico 109 major and hit it (at last minute mind you) is just incredible, and they don't seem to mind that regs like me who easily clear the rake in their boost get a free ride on their back.

It was gruelling 8 hour stream, it was so long I can't even do highlights of it as youtube editor won't work after 7 hours - late reg is very long, and it definitely hurt that I lost a flip on the bubble of the 300k one that was essentially at least $400 in equity- so if you play those, be ready for a long session.

I am not sure, but I heard some rumors that you won't hit the 0.005% bounty every $3.5 mystery bounty sng you play during one break so your non poker playing friends don't get bored.

Edit: if Id have a choice, and play either a major that's above my usual MTT buyin or a live event, I'd jump in when the stack gives you 100bb as a cash game player. In retrospect it was a mistake I played WPT Championship from the start and was forced to play 4 handed with bb ante 200 bb deep, much further from Bagging and tagging.

I keep playing the Kk poker $2 step to $30 qualifiers to live events BTW- every day 19:15 CET...when you last second reg and top up you usually are 11/15 ish with 3 ish tickets to win - you can use these for any of their satties. But was 3x in damn row one flip from making it. My strategy is to win the $30 for $4, then late reg in the event qualifier and add on with my own money and try to bink it, while trying to apply Barry's lessons and adapting to the super soft fields

Good luck with the main sat!
But I want to know, how are you playing on KK, I mean, if you are mirroring the tablet/mobile to external monitor and using some external mouse/keyboard?
Are you able to play also on some different site in the same time?
