I just joined table few hands ago so readless.

Decided to just pot raise flop versus this pot lead from SB as usually they have something they are willing to continue.

Turn is one of best ones giving me boat. SPR is 0.5. So my range is like KK, 99/88+sd, K9+sd and some QJT/JT7 with board pair or bdfd. To be honest I would shove turn lot with those wraps but I think in general we want to check some of these boats and afaik we prefer ones that unblock busted draws. So we check in hope villain improve and we potentially get value on river. Or sometimes induce river bluff which is very rare in this spot. Versus call machine I definitely prefer shoving turn here but what about default line?

I think a good way to play this is by shoving all hands without . I would still shove with 1:heart: as you unblock trips here.

I posted this to plomastermind discord and got two responds. One was about checking turn with nut boats and air and betting both versus river check on blanks. Though I don't really have air outside of solid draws after raising flop pot lead.

Other was of using small turn bet like 10-25% of pot on turn. I kind of like this later one at least. In game I didn't even think of small bet because of low SPR but I suppose it doesn't really matter much on static board like this.

What do we gain from checking?

After flop raise a check on the turn looks really suspicious tbh. As that is a good card to shove your semibluffs too. You have 0% air in your range, it's made hands and wraps (or both).

The thing is that opponent calls your raise, which means he has something too. If turn goes checked, you get 0 value from missed draws on the river (unless he decides to donk bluff it). But at SPR 0,5 I would expect opponent to call significant amount of his draws.

So the question is, what do we achieve with checking? There are two options, we protect our checking range and we induce bluffs. At SPR 0,5 we need 25% equity to stack off, do we really have a range that we check and fold river if unimproved? If yes, I would be interested to hear what hands we raise on the flop and check-give up on the turn? The other option, induce bluffs, doesn't sound appealing to me. If we had reads that opponent makes not-so-great bluffs versus turn checkback, then yes. But other than that, I would just bet for value. Opponent needs just 25% to call us, and at that SPR it's really hard for him to fold his draws. If he doesn't have a draw (but mediocre/weak made hand), I don't think he turns the hand into a bluff. So the question goes is it easier to get the remaining stacks in versus draws on the turn or on the river. I think turn is superior here.
