[Closed] DTD to close?

Hi All

I have heard rumours from a couple of different sources locally, that poker room Dusk till dawn, here in Nottingham, is to close.

I don't know if others are aware of this or not, but thought it worth mentioning.

I think this would be a great loss to the English poker scene and beyond. Indeed, the Norwegians have twice held their national championships there, as I believe live poker is not legal in Norway.

The place seems to have been so successful, and some of the top players from the uk and beyond have played there, and I find it hard to believe it is closing. Being a native of Nottingham, and it being a Nottingham man who developed it from nothing, I think it would be very sad to see it go.

Anyway, we shall see. Or does anyone know any more ?

Hi All

Will answer the question myself, in that have just read a news item in "Inside Poker" mag that confirms the unofficial rumours I have heard, that closure of DTD may be imminent.

One reason given is UK tax laws not allowing VAT to be reclaimed, due to it being a fully licensed casino (despite the fact they offer no casino facilities, and only got a casino licence as the law forced them to! or at least that was my understanding of it at the time).

It will truly be a sad day for the poker scene when such a great dedicated poker only venue has to close, considering the hard work and legal battles that went into opening it in the first place.
