[Closed] $2,25 SNG 9 handed AKs hand

Hi tellef,

I just started playing this level of SnG too, but I've played a few hundred at the $1 limit (I know it's a ridiculously small history). I'm not sure what game you were playing before SnG's - I'm guessing cash game?

Pre-flop - I think there are 2 plays here.
:diamond:Move all-in and hope to see both players fold - in this stage of a SnG you do not want a coin flip if one of them calls with a pocket pair.
:diamond:I prefer a call against MP3's raise and CO's call. AK is a great drawing hand but nothing I want to risk alot of chips with this early in the tourney.

Flop - I prefer a check-fold here (especially from early position). This early in the tourney I don't see a need to gamble chips unneccesarily. If you give up this hand you still have around 25 BB which is plenty to wait for a better situation. IMO - it's just not worth the risk from early position with 2 big calls pre-flop, as I feel you're going to be called by any pocket pair, any made pair, and any draw.

You can either just call his raise pre-flop and try to hit the flop or reraise, but if you reraise it needs to be smaller, 360 is a good size (3x his raise). As played I think I'd cbet shove too, since the pot is that big and your fold equity is good because you represent a strong overpair and the flop doesn't hit possible holdings such as face cards.

Oh that's correct, missread the hand. So I change my play, I just shove pre-flop. I guess calling and seeing a flop is still ok, but as a general rule if your pre-flop raise (or reraise) commits around 1/3 of your stack you should just go all in instead.

there is already 300 in the pot before you start, you will find at this level players will call pre flop very light.

you should shove pre flop and be happy with winning the 300 with AKo and if u get called you are very often dominating them and in the bad case flipping.

re raising pre flop at low blind levels on this limit is very risky, players will call you loose and you will be left with a huge pot and committed...

much better just to ship it pre flop

Hi all,

I also shove preflop.

As played I would check/fold this flop. It hits way too much of their ranges, and our hand sucks too much (2 overs + backdoor flush draw).
