Something up with the atmosphere today? I've never seen so many weird hands on pokerstars within 2 hours. Maybe because I don't usually play at these hours (it's a very different game!)

After losing 3 stacks - twice when my card hit the river also hit someone else better (/whine) This happens:

Play hand

$0.25/$0.5 No-Limit Hold'em (5 handed)

Known players:
[tg]BU$69.35:///////;SB$42.35:///////;BB$54.45:///////;MP3$56.00:///////;CO(Hero)$50.75:///////;[/tg]

Preflop: Hero is CO with 5:h, 5:c.
MP3 folds, Hero raises to $2.00, BU folds, SB calls $1.75, BB raises to $7.00, Hero calls $5.00, SB calls $5.00.

Flop: ($21) T:c, 8:c, 5:d (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $14.00, SB calls $14.00, BB folds.

Turn: ($49) 6:s (2 players)
SB bets $6.50, Hero raises to $29.75(All-In), SB calls $14.85.

Yeh, I probably should fold here right? Is he trying to suckbet me with AA?

River: ($100.1) 5:s (0 players)
SB gets uncalled bet back.

Results follow:

Hero shows four of a kind, fives(5h 5c).
SB shows a full-house, tens full of fives(Ts Td).

Hero wins with four of a kind, fives(5h 5c).

It's just sick.. poker is just plain sick sometimes.

Meh, at these limits, some players see red when they hit top pair top kickker with AT. I'm not folding a set, unless it's against a player whos patterns I know VERY WELL.

Dan Harrington says that, when someone tells him a story about how they just "knew" that their opponent had a better set, so they folded middle set, he says to himself "sucker"

that being said, I'd never think this suckout was bad poker. Set over set is one of the most brutal situations in holdem, and unless there's four to a straight or a flush to slow the betting down, you're in for a lot of pain. If my opponent makes this suckout against me, I'ts "NICE HAND" in the chat, and maybe a 5 minute time out while I de-frazzle.

Yesterday I lost with middle set vs top set and didn't even tilt because of the cooler

Yep, I'm serious.

I see it less often at P-Stars, and I'm playing 25c, not 50. but at Pacific Poker, I saw this a lot at 50c shorthanded tables.

You can't get knocked out of a sng on the flop, besides, when he hits quads on the flop, you have still flopped a fh...

Hello gavinonymous,

I like how you played the hand. I think a set is a standard broke without reads as there are so many 2 pair or over pair combinations that they could likely play the same ;)

But ofc, nice one outer ^^

Good luck and best regards,

-Jack

Ah, your hand is not as sick as mine! :P
Played this one sometime last year, had to dig through my database to find it. I probably didn't play it very well, but it's still a sick hand... and we're both 200BB deep.

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$0.25/$0.5 No-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

Known players:
[tg]MP3$56.70:///////;CO$47.75:///////;BU$40.30:///////;SB(Hero)$99.50:///////;BB$34.80:///////;UTG1$99.25:///////;UTG2$40.45:///////;MP1$100.25:///////;MP2$47.85:///////;[/tg]

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6:c, 6:s.
UTG1 calls $0.50, UTG2 folds, MP1 raises to $2.25, 4 folds, Hero calls $2.00, BB folds, UTG1 calls $1.75.

Flop: ($7.25) 7:d, 6:h, 2:c (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG1 checks, MP1 bets $4.00, Hero calls $4.00, UTG1 calls $4.00.

Turn: ($19.25) 7:h (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG1 checks, MP1 bets $8.00, Hero raises to $16.00, UTG1 calls $16.00, MP1 folds.

River: ($59.25) 6:d (2 players)
Hero bets $50.00, UTG1 raises to $77.00(All-In), Hero calls $27.00.

Final Pot: $213.25.
Results follow:

UTG1 shows four of a kind, sevens(7:s 7:c).
Hero shows four of a kind, sixs(6:c 6:s).

UTG1 wins with four of a kind, sevens(7:s 7:c).
