Hey guys!
Please allow me to introduce myself.
WHO’S DEGRE?
I’m Lorenzo, an Italian bloke 33yo living in UK since summer 2005, currently resting my arse somewhere in West London. Degre is how I’ve been called since I was 12 by friends; Lorenzo is quite a common name in Florence and is not uncommon to call people by family name, being my family name quite long my friends shortened it to Degre. My online handle usually is powerdegre. Too long to explain, but comes from the ancient times when there was no online gaming and I used to play Warcraft 2 in LAN.
Tried occasionally some poker with friends when I was 18, we played 5 cards draw, but I’ve never really got into the game; the few games I’ve played interested me, but I’ve never really had the chance to play more. In the while I’ve travelled a bit the world, learned to play Backgammon in Turkey and still I had this curiosity about poker.
When all this online rooms started coming out I was still seen Poker more as gambling then as a game of skill and anyway I’ve always been to skint to spend on poker as I’ve always spent all in alcohol, women and travels. Eventually a few months ago, being skint as usual and looking for a second job I’ve come across Poker Strategy and here we are.
WHY NOBODY?
Seen some players online using this name and I’ve found it quite funny, it also works out that I have quite a passion for Spaghetti Westerns and Terence Hill, which starred in this awesome film by Tonino Valerii with Henry Fonda, My Name is Nobody. Awesome film, a real tribute to westerns. The idea of writing Nobody’s blog was just too tasty to let it go.
WHY THE BLOG?
I'm loving the English PS community, this will be a means to share my results, have a good laugh and maybe get some suggestion to improve my game, but most of all this is motivation.
I’M NOT NEW HERE, WHAT HAPPENED?
I received my first PS bankroll around March or April 2009, I was moving up a level when I tilted heavily in my life, things went bad, move down to the original 50$ and decided to block everything as I was plunging into depression, I’ve reached the bottom and started digging. Wise move to freeze everything until better times.
The time came again on the 20th of September when I’ve noticed a 5$ bonus for inactivity on my Party account, so I started there again from the lower limit to regain confidence before grabbing again my old BR and moving up the limits. Eventually some of the old issues catched up on me and I decided to close the account while I was still up.
I've been thinking for a while that I wanted to start playing again, but I couldn't really make up my mind. Eventually a couple of months ago something made me realize that some old stuff was definitely past, so I've used the chance when I received a mail about a second starting capital on Everest, waited to return from my Italian holidays and enrolled on the room.
THE MISSION
Like almost everyone else on this site I’m after cash, this has to become a source of income to implement the poor salary that I get in the videogame industry, which I’m quite interested in leaving.
I want to take it easy and keep the original spirit that drives me, it’s a game, I need to have fun, so for the moment no more heavy table grinding, I want the extra money but I want my sanity, this has to be a substitute for my other online games, look it as getting some cash while having fun.
BSS NL is the game.
