NL Holdem $0.10(BB) Replayer
SB ($12.86) [24/11/1,7 - 400hands]
BB ($12.06)
UTG ($11.87) [28/28/inf - 60hands]
Hero ($16.36)
CO ($22.76)
BTN ($9.60)

Dealt to Hero Q♠Q♣

UTG raises to $0.35, Hero calls $0.35, fold, fold, SB calls $0.30, fold,

FLOP ($1.15) 5♥9♠4♦

check, UTG bets $0.55, Hero calls $0.55, SB calls $0.55,

TURN ($2.80) 5♥9♠4♦J♠

check, check, Hero bets $1.55, SB calls $1.55, UTG folds,

RIVER ($5.90) 5♥9♠4♦J♠7♥

SB bets $2.95, Hero ???

That bet on the river looked like a value bet. Is it safe to assume I am beaten in these circumstances and just fold? Maybe check call would have been better on the turn? I took the lead on the turn, because I thought UTG didn't hit anything and gave up the hand.

Preflop : I 3-bet to 1,3.
Postflop: bet flop, pot bet turn and shove river.

Preflop: 3-bet to $1 (he calls and pot is $2,15)
Post flop: 3-bet him again
Turn: check behind
River: call if he bets again

It looks like he has over cards.

Re-raise preflop!!!

Bet flop,
Bet turn

Just call river.. a shove is pointless since the only hand which will call is AJ and everything else that calls beats you.

so you go broke everytime you have overpair on the flop?

Hi,

3bet preflop until you know more about him.

As played i'd raise the flop, UTG's bet is so weak he probably doesn't have much and SB seems loose enough to come along with all sorts of crap that could hit this board enough that i don't want him to be able to overcall getting 4:1. If SB folds and UTG shoves we're not feeling too great but we're calling. If SB check/coldcalls or check/cold3bets I'd say we're toast unless he's totally fishy so i'd likely just shutdown since he's been around long enough for us to have a 400h sample on him, especially if that doesn't scare UTG away either.

As played i'd also bet out on the turn, UTG has nothing and SB got such a good price on the flop that he's liable to be in there with stuff like 9x or weird gutshots. When he calls and then donks out the river tho half pot tho, i think he has a set more often than not. The J should have stopped him from thinking he's still valuebetting stuff like TT or A9, and this really looks like a slowplay line from a bad setminer. Getting 3:1 i don't mind giving it a call the first time just to figure out how we can play perfectly against him in all our future hands tho.

Hope it helps.
